I called NVC this morning. We only hit our 14 day mark and they don't have our petition in their system yet. But two things the representative told me was that the receipt/transfer process can take 35 days and if we provided an email address, DoS may notify us via email rather than just hard copy.

Who's passport number do they need when you call NVC... The us citizen or the fiance who needs the visa?

You don't need any passport number when calling NVC. You need the beneficiary's name and DOB.

Jarj, I think my case made it to the NVC. I called this morning and was transferred to a 'specialist' because I think my case is in their system. Contact them and you may be too!

were you notified by NVC through an email that they received it? and did your case status changed on the USCIS case tracker?

I called NVC twice. The first time was about 9 am EST and the second was about 2 pm EST. I once I reached the first person, they were able to tell me that the USCIS receipt number was in their system and they transferred me to a 'specialist'. The first one couldn't help me because I forgot my fiance's birthday (we don't celebrate) so I had to call back when I had it.

They gave me the embassy number (KBL for us), the beneficiary ID, and the invoice number. The KBL number isn't showing on CEAC.GOV yet, so I am hoping it will show on or before Monday in a batch update. They did tell me that they received my case just today. So hopefully you and I were in the same shipment, but maybe they hadn't put your petition in the system when you called? Otherwise, you should be in there soon! On VJer, thespoons, suggested that NVC receives petitions on Thursdays and Fridays? Maybe there is something to waiting to the end of the week?

i just called NVC. the lady said they received it yesterday but then it may take up to 4 weeks before it is being processed. once it is processed they would email or send me a mail. did they told you that as well? you think i shall call again later or tomorrow?

They tell everyone it may take up to 4 weeks. It usually takes just a day for K-1 petitions.

I would suggest calling again. When I called, I asked for the date when the petition was received (I want to keep my VJ timeline accurate!) and the second tier guy said they received it that day. Your embassy number, invoice number, and beneficiary ID should be ready. You will need these to track the case in CEAC.GOV and to pay the fiance visa fees before the interview.

Ok...so our stuff is in transit from NVC to the embassy. What should we except now? How do we know when our stuff was received by the embassy? Happy we are making progress.

I think CEAC.GOV should update when the petition is at the embassy, no? I am wondering too, and I think at this point it is all country-specific procedures. See if you can find a thread on the Ireland portal - someone may have asked this same question before you!
