IR-1/CR-1 is this the same as F2A family category??

Hi,

what does IR-1/CR-1 means? Is this the same as the F2A category? spouse and minor child of a lawful permanent resident? I am trying to look for that forum because that is our category but i cannot find it anywhere.

Also, my husband made a separate petition for me (his wife) and our one year old son. in the IV application process, in the CHOOSE AN AGENT step, it says there that i am the PRINCIPAL APPLICANT while my son is the ACCOMPANY. and there are separate fees for us. should i still file a separate IV application for my son or is he automatically included in my IV application?

appreciate all your answers. thank you in advance!

IR-1/CR-1 are Immediate Relative categories.

Since your husband is an LPR you are probably looking for this forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/112-bringing-family-members-of-permanent-residents-to-america/

IR-1/CR-1, because a visa number is always available for immediate relatives of a US citizen.

hello, all.

I would just like to know if i should still file a separate visa process for my one year old son? because my husband filed separate petitions for me and my son. we both have different case number. when i went to start my visa application, in the choose an agent part, it shows there that i am the principal and my "accompany" is my son. and it always says "applicant and each beneficiary that will accompany him to the united states" so does this mean that autoamtically, my son is included in my petition? i know that i have to submit a separate iv application for him. i just to know if i have to go through a separate process for my son in terms of choosing an agent, etc.

thanks for all your responses.

Immediate relative petitions do not allow derivative beneficiaries; family preference petitions do.

In practice, this means that for immediate relatives, one I-130 = one visa. In your case since you're F2A you can have a derivative beneficiary.

hi, thanks for your reply.

so you mean to say that automatically my son is included in my petitions because we are under f2a. so my husband shouldnt have filed a petition for my son in the first place. but he already did. should we ignore that approved petition and just process mine and then apply an IV for my son, too under my petition?

thanks

Pursuing only your application is probably the way to go, since on your son's application only he will receive a visa from it, and not you.
