Intolerance is when someone chooses not to serve a black person because of the color of his skin. It is not intolerance when you force a restaurant to serve a man regardless of the color of his skin. Sexual orientation should be as protected as race considering both are things a human is born with and both are things that cannot be changed.

Nice spin, and nice try of steering this hypothetical thread back to Indiana. The pizza store owner in Indiana did not refuse to serve anyone, based on skin color or sexual orientation. That narrative was manufactured by the intolerant left.

Intolerance manifests itself in a variety of different outfits. Some pink, and some with earth tones. Intolerance is similar to the chicken and egg discussion.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. There's no spin, I'm just showing you which group is actually being discriminated against. The other is fake discrimination.

So, is intolerance an opinion or a fact? Who decides?

Its not always black and white, I'll give you that. But if something that a person cannot change is being held against them......... its intolerance. Skin color, age, gender, sexual orientation. Unfortunately not everyone believes sexual orientation is something people are born with, hence the argument. But people don't believe lots of things, what are you gonna do?

Before 1970 plenty of people were openly discriminated against for the color of their skin, religious beliefs, and certainly sexual orientation. Today, there is a trend among some groups who seek to destroy others by twisting words or taking single events out of context. Intolerance is a two way street.

There's a fringe element on either side. You and I can be reasonable people I'm sure. Why do we concern ourselves or our argument by the garbage spewing from the radicals? People deserve the right to be treated equally for things they cannot change. Why is that a big deal?

wow. what a convincing argument. facts and everything.

Even had a nice little catch phrase to boot. "Intolerance is a two way street"

I do have a question though. If intolerance is a two way street are there any 4 way stops or does it have rotaries instead?

There is a false notion that oppressing intolerance is the way to fix it.

while i don't think that the owner of the pizza shop was in ANY WAY oppressed, i agree that forcing bigots to not be bigots is largely ineffective. that's why i think the best approach is to let the market sort it out. so instead of some undeserving ignoramous raising absurd funds to stay in business by rallying all their fellow ignoramous' wallets, the martketplace can simply choose to take their business elsewhere.

We have a Constitution and we have laws to monitor intolerance and deal with it. If someone doesn't want to participate in a gay wedding for religious reasons, then our Constitution protects them from being forced to do so. Just exactly who is being discriminated against in this discussion? Religious people? Gays? Blacks? Whites?

Is there a restaurant somewhere that is discriminating against someone? Is there a church somewhere whose members are being murdered or oppressed for what they believe? How does one fix that?

You don't oppress anything. You guarantee equal rights. Its what the US had to do with African Americans and its what's going to have to happen with homosexuals. Some folks don't want to give up their prejudices and the have to be forced with laws. This exact conversation happened with white owners not wanting to serve or allow blacks into their stores. Our laws forced them to and we're all better for it.

Roundabouts/rotaries are everywhere in Mass. But you're right, most peeps have no idea how to handle them. It took my wife a while to get up the courage, but she learned that just stepping on the gas is the best way to go about it.
