Fist off congrats! Your next step will be to contact the NVC @ (603) 334-0700. And see if you have a case number ... This may take a couple of weeks... Once you have that you will be able to select a agent (which is yourself). Start gathering all documents: birth certificates, NBI. names and addresses of siblings and any other information that is needed... It is best to look at the forms that you'll be filling out and start writing down the answers so you don't waste any time ... Any information is right here... And plenty of people to help... It's about another 4 month process to get through the NVC... Good luck!___________________

We sent color copies... If they need to see them they will be asked at the interview...

What I have read is that all documents sent to NVC can be copies, but your beneficiary must bring copies (printouts) and all originals to the interview in case they need to see them.

Hello, i just wanna ask how do i petition my mom to come here. i just got my US citizenship last May 2015. what do i need to do first? thanks kabayan

rstamaria2013,

If you are a US Citizen you can definitely apply to petition for your mother to come to the US and get an IR5 Visa and Green Card.

The first thing you need to do is familiarize yourself with the entire process and understand what you will need. There are two ways you can get your mom a green card and it depends if she is already here in the US with another visa (like tourist or student), or if she is still in your country. If she is here in the US you need to apply for a I-130 plus adjustment of status. If she is in your country, you must apply for a I-130 Petition for Alien Relative, and AFTER that is approved you will do what is called Consular Processing, which means that the visa for your mother will be provided thought the US Consulate/Embassy in your country. Either way, the first step is the I-130. You can read all about it on line on the USCIS website: http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-through-family/green-card-immediate-relative-us-citizen

Thanks guys!

Another question:

I am filling for my mom and my dad at the same time, do I need to file separate I-864 form for each of them?

Although I my salary alone qualify for the minimum requirement, my husband make way more, should I include him as a sponsor?

Thank you! this a great forum :-)

1 I-864 works for both... And if you make enough to cover the poverty line then there is no need to add your spouse... You're about 4 months away from a Case Closed... Good Luck

I saw this answer from the NVC FAQ website:

What do family members need if they have separate visa petitions?

Each family member with a separate visa petition must submit a signed Form I-864 with supporting documents from the petitioner/sponsor and Form I-864As with supporting documents from the joint sponsor(s) if applicable.

---

It seems like they are saying that I need one I-864 per parent, am I reading this wrong? can someone else chime in? Just a reminder that my parent have each a separate case number for their I-130.

Thanks

You'll fill out the I-864 for each parent... I meant to say that you only have to pay the AOS fee once... It covers both parents... Sorry for the confusion...

A few more questions:
- Do my parents need to fill & sign the DS-261 and mail it to the NVC from their home country or I can fill and sign it for them and mail from here. There will be a lot of delay if they have to mail it from my home country.

- Same question with the DS 260 form, do they need to sign it or can I sign it?

Thanks again.
