  • 2 weeks later...

My case was updated with a RFE on April 8th.. the issue was very simple - a missing signature.

It took 10 days to receive the RFE (18th), and I promptly fixed the error and sent it back same day.

My case status:

On April 21, 2015, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number xxx. Our Nebraska Service Center office will begin working on your case again. We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you. You should receive a decision or case update by June 20, 2015, unless fingerprinting or an interview are needed.

I'm hoping my case was thoroughly reviewed and on the brink of acceptance except for that missing signature.. and that it won't truly take 2 months to hear back from them. This separation is killing both of us!

Has anyone else had a RFE over such a stupid oversight? What was your processing time?

it looks like you ll get your i 130 approved soon since the only thing your missing is the signature , i ll allow 10 days for the operator to review the RFE and most likely he/she ll approve it , i see many cases got approved really quick for such problem. Just get ready for the NVC journey :) . hope this help

Still waiting! It will be two weeks tomorrow since they received the corrected document (just needed a signature). I'm constantly kicking myself for making such a simple mistake - it has added a month now to the processing time, and counting. :(

i believe they have 30 days to start reviewing your documents again but just keep being optimistic , at least you know that someone touch your case which is a good sign and hopefully it ll be approved this month .

Good luck

Hi Guys

I applied (I 130 ) for my wife On Sept 16 /2014 and updated my Immigration Status from Green Card holder to U.S Citizen On 11/2014 , so after that they start working on my case , 5 days ago they updated my status online stating that they suspended my case until i respond for the RFE ( they requested Original language Marriage Certificate ) which i did today and probably they ll receive it on Friday 3/2015. So my question here are .

I know the Processing time to RFE is somehow unpredictable but Could you please give me at least what was your time frame if you had the same situation ?

are they going to send another RFE in case they need more Docs ? if Yes then Why did not they included it on the previous one ?

If im lucky enough (well if my wife is lucky enough which i dont thing so   ) get approved , should i start gathering the NVC Documents required ? or wait till i get the NOA2 mail Notice ?

Thanks for your help

A certified translater would have stapled the opy of the original language marriage certificate, this would have avoided the RFE. In the future make sure you have your documents translated at a certified translator. In regards to receiving another RFE, it is Highly unlikely but i wouldn't rule it out 100% . In regards to getting NVC documents, i suggest you start now especially Certificate of good conduct of countries that you have lived for over a year, because this may take a lot of time. The certificate of good conduct of the country you are currently in could wait until they ask for it.

Hi Zeeeeek

Thanks for the reply . the USCIS needs both (Translation and Original language copy ) of the marriage certificate , i did send a translation at the first time but they asked for the Arabic version . anyway they already approved my petition and its in the process of entering to the system .

in regards to NVC journey ,my wife has already collected all documents required and i should receive them before the end of this month

Thanks

Yes a certified translator ( Mutarjim Mu3taraf) would have translated the doucment from arabic to english then stapled the original document to the translation and stamped both pages with his name, address, and number. All translated doucments that i have done were similar. I'm glad you have everything sorted :)

Pretty sure I'd flip out on someone stapling something to my original marriage certificate. LOL.
