I want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly because, in Ireland is takes 10-15 weeks to get our Police Certificates (They are WAY behind).

I do not see on the Step by Step K1 Fiance Visa guide that you are required to have Police Certificates but a friend of mine told me that his brother had to have one for his wife when she came over from the U.K.

So does my fiance need one? She has lived in Ireland her whole life and never worked "abroad".

March 16th, 2015 : I-129F Sent Overnight Post

March 18th, 2015 : I-129F Delivered (Overnight my butt!)

March 23rd, 2015 : I-129F Accepted and routed to CSC!

March 28th, 2015 : NOA1 Received

April 14th, 2015 : I-129F Approved, Awaiting NOA2

April 24th, 2015 : NOA 2 Received

May 14th, 2015 : Packet 3

June 24th, 2015 : Medical Examination

July 20th, 2015 : Interview (APPROVED!!!!!)

August 21st, 2015 : Date she arrives in the USA

October 30th, 2015 : Wedding Date

Total Time I-129F -> K1 = 4 months, 4 Days (Could have been sooner, we waited a bit to do the medical and send in our readiness notice for interview)

You need a police certificate from anywhere (including home town) you have lived for 6 months or more.

So yes she needs one from Ireland for the medical and interview and AOS.

Yes, she will need a police certificate from Ireland for her packet 4, which is a ways down your timeline if you're really TSC. You probably have 6 months until your NOA2, so you have lots of time to request it.

It only took me about 2 weeks to get my Garda cert from the Super-intendent, couldn't be easier - they advise it would take around 3 weeks, its also free, you apply at your local garda station.

Tim, she wants to know if getting "vetted" is the same thing? She said she had to get "vetted" last year to work in a creche and it took 3 months.

No, police certificates used for immigration purposes are generally not the general background checks required for certain professions.
