I sure hope you never get behind me at a red ligth then  . I tend to wait until there is a big opening or the light turns green. Of course my pet peeve is when someone stops at a yield sign for a lane that has a sign that says it continues.

Dave

I wait for big openings too, but I have an underpowered lifted Jeep.

I've been so busy. Haven't got the chance to come back until now. Thank you all for your responses. I'm still waiting for the ticket to come in the mail. Still very undecided about whether to pay or not. What if I don't pay now and then will have to pay the late fees?

yes and it may raise the insurance next time you renew. I suggest paying it asap. Fyi the fee will go to the owner of the car.

But violations caught by red light cameras don't go down on your record, NRL. I don't think my insurance premium would go up because of that.

They don't go onto the driver's record (fyi it's NLR).

I'm not sure about the premiums which is why I used the word "may". :)

Unless a light specifically states that there is no right turn on a red (or is into a one way), you can ALWAYS turn right on a red if there is an opening.

Not in New York City. Right turns on red are illegal.

Someone has already mentioned that, and you've now confirmed it as well. Thanks for reading the entire thread. :)
