Knightsbridge & police certificate...

Okay, so, I had an issue back in December when Matt went to his interview. He never received his police certificate back from the doctor. He asked them if they had given him everything & was told they did. Needless to say, over a month later, at his interview, he was temporarily denied because he didn't have his certificate. Matt called Knightsbridge while he was still in London, & they told him they'd never keep it...if they had, they'd have sent it back the next business day & he must've lost it. (Sure, you could blame us for not realizing he didn't have it on him when he went to the interview, but he assumed that since they didn't give it to him, that they'd send it with his medical results).

Anyway, he's been here in the US with me for 6 weeks now & his medical was in November. Guess what his roommate opened up in the mail today? A crumpled up police certificate from Knightsbridge. Seriously. 4 months later. They ended up delaying his arrival by a month, because even though he paid £80 to get a new certificate sent to the embassy overnight, the holidays delayed them approving it by nearly a month. You have no idea how irritated that makes me. Regardless, he's here now & our wedding is next month. So, just be aware...it can happen. *end rant.

I am the petitioner.

Pretty annoying! Still, considering how long the journey to citizenship takes (presuming one wishes to take it) immigration is never truly hassle-free; try to think of it as getting all the mishaps out of the way early on.

Nice to see you again, though; I hope you're well.

There's that smell again...

Sorry to hear that happened. At least, though it was a delay, it did not wreak major havoc on the process and he was still able to come. This was one of the reasons my fiance paid for multiple copies of his police certificate - especially since it was so cheap when he bought it alongside the original. We expected the medical would keep one, though for us they gave it back, and in case of mishaps.. I'd be annoyed if we had to wait even longer!
