Fact is, that the pix below are ok not the because Bush is white, but because he is not black.

If you believe comparing a white person to a monkey is akin to comparing a black person to a monkey you need to do some studying about American history, which incidentally I believe should be mandatory to everyone applying for a greencard, no exception. One should use all those months spent in waiting suffering, studying our history and culture, but that's another story.

You can't look at these pictures in a vacuum. They represent completely different points of view.

Having said all that, our First Amendment rights afford you the right to publish these pictures as they do afford Mr. Figueroa to express himself freely, as he did. Nobody is questioning his right to do so.

You missed the point, by miles....

However, on a positive note, if you find the pix below objectionable, one should only imagine how much exception you must have taken at Mr. Figueroa's comment. Somehow I don't believe that to be the case at all.

These pictures were widely circulated during the Bush presidency, along with published cartoons, epithets like "Uncurious George", along with articles detailing how he looked like a monkey in major media pieces...

But he is a white man. So it's ok.

The first racist excuse is that racism against whites today is justified because there was racism against blacks in the past. All white people today are guilty for the sins of SOME whites long ago, even when your own family fought and died to end slavery. All blacks today can be bullies, playing the race card, as if they were a slave yesterday. When the color of your skin is what dictates the rights, we are not in a society of equal rights.

Look at the denial too: right here in this thread I can post pictures of a white president next to a chimp. Were I to do that for Michelle Obama - I would not just be edited, but probably banned. Despite that we have people denying this is racist. To deny this is a racial preference demonstrates a person is without reason.

This denial is so bizarre we actually have someone saying it isn't because Bush is white, but because he is not black! lol. People are beside themselves to justify racism when there is no justification for racism against anyone.

We also have the stupidity of racism against whites today being justified because it isn't as bad as the racism against blacks in the past. There is no justification for racism, period.

You want racism? I am legally an American Indian. But I don't use that as a baseball bat to bully other people like someone else on this thread despite American Indians suffering not slavery but genocide. Those who survived were herded onto concentration camps and were not even made citizens for 3/4 of a century after the blacks.

Racism isn't justified, however one sort of needs to know what racism is in order to determine what is and isn't racist as well as why there is sensitivity in relation discussion of certain subjects.

Similarly, as a white man I struggle to see how I am or have ever been a victim of racism. It just isn't something I've had to deal with. Of course that might just be because I'm not part of a minority group with a history of being marginalised by a ruling class.

We've already had someone bemoan the existence of things like Black History Month and Black Pride rallies, arguments that show complete ignorance of why those things exist.

As a white man I don't need a white pride rally, because whiteness is a meaningless concept for me or for many whites - which I suppose why such things tend to be the domain of fringe white supremacist groups - who are that way because in the socioeconomic pecking order they occupy the same place as low income blacks.
