Pay Fees - AOS and IV

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum. Glad there's a network of people that are dealing with the same red tape and the US gov. system! So much stress!

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. My husband and I have been assigned our NVC case number for a few months now. We are currently waiting for our IV fee to pop up so we can pay it. We have already paid for our AOS fee, and we completed our DS-261 form online in mid-January.

Is it supposed to take this long when waiting to pay the IV fee? It currently says "not invoiced" despite having submitted our DS-261 form almost 2 months ago. I sent NVC an email about it this morning but who knows when they will get back to me. How long did it take you guys to be able to pay your IV fee before being able to submit the rest of your paperwork?

it took them a month to answer my question when i emailed them! but by then I already got what I needed.. I have no idea how long it takes for them to invoice but I think they usually give you the 30 days talk. but there is hope ... a lot of us including me have called and told them that our DS261 is completed and our AOS fee shows paid can they review the DS261 and release the IV fee. mine was released over night.. some take a day or 2 but think a week at the most when you call.. try that.. and quick question you sent both your Packets off to them already correct?

Do not wait on NVC.Call and keep calling untill you get someone on phone that will review your ds-261. It took 3 weeks for me to pay the Iv fee,after submitting Ds-261.

Also you do not have to wait for the Iv fee to be paid to send in both packets.

If you have not done it yet you should send both packets in.It takes about 60 days for NVC to review documents

Thanks guys! I will keep on trying to call them. What do you guys mean by packets? Do you mean the AOS and IV package? I was under the impression that you needed to pay the fees first before any applications portals would open up.

since there is a 60 day wait for them reviewing your AOS and IV packet you are told to send them in once AOS is paid so your 60 day time can start .. IV takes longer so they give you a chance to send the packets off before its invoiced . once you pay your AOS fee there is a barcode you need to print out and that is placed on top of both your packets... if you been waiting 2 months you could have gotten a case complete by now and interview scheduled ... sorry you wasn't informed.. but now that you are I would.

1.read this over and over again http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process ( this is the NVC process and it helps you through the whole process at NVC if you haven't read it before)

2.Send both AOS and IV packets and get it over to NVC as fast as possible

3. in the meantime call NVC to see if they can release your IV invoice

Oh. That's kind of discouraging to hear. Thanks guys. We've been in the process of compiling our AOS and IV forms. But it's good to know that once they're ready we can send them in right away. So, just to clarify, we can send our AOS/IV packets even before we do the DS 260?

And the DS-260 portal online opens up after all the fees have been paid, correct?

Yes you can send the aos and iv packet in before iv fee is paid and the ds-260 form is fill out. You should send both packet in now. It takes 60 days for nvc to review documents. I am sorry to hear that you have been waiting extra time. I am sure you do not want to wait anymore extra time then you need to

Thanks for your help everyone. Since I'm from Canada, it is appropriate to send the AOS and IV packet via email correct? Or should I mail? From what I read, it seems that I can email and have certified copies of the documents for the interview?

Also, have any other Canadians had their photocopies certified by the approved list of professions: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/goc/cep/how_certified.shtml or do you need a certified copy with the government seal (e.g. birth certificates, marriage certificate etc)

You have the option of emailing your package to the NVC or mailing it to them.

I am in the same boat called NVC today and the rep told me to wait 30 days for them to review the DS261 and invoice the IV bill to be paid. He also told me to go ahead and send the AOS and IV packages to NVC as soon as I can. This thread just confirmed that information and I will be ready to mail my packages by the end of the week.
