my wife gave birth in the US last year and while re-entering the US for a visit the immigration officers held her in secondary room ,asking her for receipt of payment for the medicals. the officer says next time she comes into the US without the receipt , her visa would be cancelled. we don't have any receipt since medical paid the bill.

what is the chances of her getting a visa renewal and how does she go about getting a receipt of payment?

What do you mean "medical" paid the bill? Do you mean you had private insurance that paid her bill? Or do you mean the US taxpayers paid her bill?

MediCal paid the bill perhaps because you didn't or couldn't. At this point the reason is really immaterial.

What you must do, or rather need do, is call the hospital and find out where they sent your bill. Ask them to send it to your current address so you can make good on the payment.

It's not complicated but it's really only about money, so don't worry.

MediCal paid for it? YOU MEAN THE TAX PAYING RESIDENTS OF CALIFORNIA PAID FOR IT?? I'm all for paying my taxes and helping those in need but B2 holders have no right to means tested benefits. In fact, as a green card holder, I myself, even though I've been paying taxes in the system since the day I moved to the US, do not even have access to means tested benefits.
