It doesn't. It's completely irrelevant. But really, that's the beauty of a logical fallacy. It doesn't have to make sense.

If the father was around he could have stepped in and kept the child from death ... But that is irrelevant ... Having a father in a child's life .So sad your thinking ... men being irrelevant ...

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

If the father were sick in a hospital... or deployed in the military.... or working on a number of jobs that require extended absences this would have taken place...

It's almost as though you're saying it takes a village to raise a child....

I didn't say men are irrelevant, I said your logic was. Irrelevant to the topic, at least. It's pointless to speculate what if. You're trying to create something out of nothing.

Baby starves to death and no need to ask where the father was . got it .

You can ask that all you want, and yet that question will remain irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Consider that the mother was there all along, and the baby died all the same. You continue to miss the point.

You can ask if you want but it's irrelevant. The father was not there. He wasn't there before. He wasn't going to be there tomorrow. All the worlds problems don't fit into your preconceived notion of how things should be, no matter how much you try to make it fit.

The child lived with a mother who made a very bad and irresponsible choice. The mother chose to abuse drugs and that led to the tragedy. The father wasn't part of that decision. Many scenarios for help besides the father were probably available but ultimately those paths were not taken.

Maybe the Father was a junkie who used to beat the Mother and pimp her out for dope money?

If you make the father black, you'll have people running to the Jergens jar...

Anything's possible. There's a reason the father wasn't there and without knowing that, it's pointless to say the father being there would have made it all better. Maybe it would have, maybe not. Unfortunately there are also fathers out there who make things worse.

The only valid point in this red herring of the whereabouts of the father is that it shows how unprepared a society we are to provide support for individuals raising children on their own, whose partners may be in the military, deceased or otherwise gone.

Perhaps the more pertinent question should be where were we all, as a society, when this took place?

The Jergens was already brought out and used. Mr. Bunker thought the baby daddy was black for sure. At least he got one off before he realized he was wrong.

I suppose, if there was a father of some sort in the picture, there's a good chance none of this would have happened. Unless they both od'ed at the same time. Which I would think isn't likely. But really any additional person in this situation could have helped. Maybe even another mother

And why are men failing their children?

It seems like she had the support of her mother until she recently passed away. Maybe things just spiraled out of control. I assumed she abused drugs but it could be antidepressants or something. I don't think there always has to be blame or what people did or didn't do. Sometimes bad things just happen. It's a sad thing and I'm not sure what could have helped it, but I think I'll leave the ideological debate/red herring for another day.

Because they're too busy playing with their guns to save their families from Obama. They have no time to deal with the childrens.

And why are men failing their children?

I think it's much easier to just keep asking where the father was, and hoping it'll catch on.
