Hillary Clinton’s Use of Private Email at State Department Raises Flags

WASHINGTON — Hillary Rodham Clinton exclusively used a personal email account to conduct government business as secretary of state, State Department officials said, and may have violated federal requirements that officials’ correspondence be retained as part of the agency’s record.

Mrs. Clinton did not have a government email address during her four-year tenure at the State Department. Her aides took no actions to have her personal emails preserved on department servers at the time, as required by the Federal Records Act.

It was only two months ago, in response to a new State Department effort to comply with federal record-keeping practices, that Mrs. Clinton’s advisers reviewed tens of thousands of pages of her personal emails and decided which ones to turn over to the State Department. All told, 55,000 pages of emails were given to the department.Mrs. Clinton stepped down from the secretary’s post in early 2013.

I can recall no instance in my time at the National Archives when a high-ranking official at an executive branch agency solely used a personal email account for the transaction of government business,” said Mr. Baron, who worked at the agency from 2000 to 2013.

She shouldn't be allowed to run for office again. In fact, I think that the US should switch to a single party system and the Republican Party would be the official party. Anyone who doesn't renounce being a Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, etc will be publicly executed. There should be no more voting, since the one party is all wise and knowing. Think like Chavez, Castro, Kim Jong Un, Hitler etc.

Then the VJ malcontents would have no agenda and nothing to whine about. If they criticized the Party, they would be executed publicly or on pay per view. Blacks and Muslims would have no rights, slavery would be legal and the Constitution would be amended to get rid of all those pesky equality and Bill of Rights distractions. There would only be two items in the new Constitution, all men are created equal, but some are more equal than others. And all of the people who are more equal than others would have the right to keep and bear arms.

The Clinton Foundation accepted millions of dollars from seven foreign governments during Hillary Rodham Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, including one donation that violated its ethics agreement with the Obama administration, foundation officials disclosed Wednesday

The Nigerian example is an especially instructive one. Gilbert Chagoury is a major figure in land and construction in that country and has contributed between $1 million and $5 million to the Clinton Foundation as well as arranged a huge speaking fee for President Clinton at a Caribbean event and kicked in a large sum to his 1996 re-election campaign. In return for this, he has been received at the Clinton White House and more recently at Clinton-sponsored social events in New York and Paris. This may have helped to alleviate the sting of Chagoury's difficulties in Nigeria itself. As a close friend of the country's uniformed despot Gen. Sani Abacha, he benefited from some extremely profitable business arrangements during the years of dictatorship but was later compelled, after an investigation of his transactions, to return an estimated $300 million to the Nigerian treasury in exchange for a plea-bargaining arrangement by which his bank accounts could be unfrozen.

An upstate New York developer donated $100,000 to former President Bill Clinton's foundation in November 2004, around the same time that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman's mall project.

Mrs. Clinton helped enact legislation allowing the developer, Robert J. Congel, to use tax-exempt bonds to help finance the construction of the Destiny USA entertainment and shopping complex, an expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse.

Mrs. Clinton also helped secure a provision in a highway bill that set aside $5 million for Destiny USA roadway construction.

I suppose people might wonder if you apply such a critical eye to all political candidates, rather than just the ones you don't like.

Seems to me that these things are rather typical of career politicians. You can't very well complain about it unless you're prepared to look at everyone in government.

Perhaps you should read up on the UK expenses scandal - politicians fiddling their expenses and essentially defrauding the public. It was/is huge news here. The difference is that noone assumed it was only one person doing the fiddling.

Question being, do you only care about this sort of thing where Clinton is concerned?
