That were you should take your photo copied document with original one and make them as certified true copies from your legal government offices. It depends on your government I don't know how you work things out there. For us in the Philippines we've got legal sector from which or where you could request one and they will provide you a certified copies.

Better yet confirm that to your lawyer just to make things clear

Generally in India the certification is done by gazetted officers( Government officials and some bank managers, lawyers or doctors etc hold this designation) . Here you have to carry your original and a xeroxed copy the officer will verify and then sign and give a seal on your xeroxed copy that its authentic.

For US immigration needs (and I suppose your lawyer asked for certified copies for that purpose), copies of the documents you specified are sufficient. You submitted those copies, except the PCC, that got the I-130 approved, right?

The term "certified" is used rather frequently in India legalese; as long as the documents are legit, there should be no reason to be afraid of.

However, it's a different story if the lawyer is specific about certified copies.

Xerox or Photocopy.

You go to any Notary Public Office to attest those photocopied papers of the required documents and that's all you need to submit to your lawyer.

I guess the best person who can help him is an individual who are from India too. Coz in Philippines the only legal way for us to get a certified true copies are from the government. If it is about the marriage license and birth certificate for example, it is the national statistics office division. They are the only one who is allowed to provide a certified copies of those, not just by notary public as for you in Pakistan the way you legalize it.

Just my opinion. There's no right or wrong but definitely an Indian member would be a big help of his inquiry.

not eveyrone uses a lawyer...and a lawyer isn't needed to get a certified copy

once again not everyone uses a lawyer.

I'm just basing on his inquiry, I know that most of the visa process it doesn't necessarily needed certified copies not unless the government requested. He didn't exactly tell us what purpose is he using those so don't really know.

Whatever his lawyer is asking him, it's only him who knows what purpose it is, not unless he would share the details and it will be a lot more easier for us to conclude.

Incorrect.

How is a Xerox copy a certified document? It's not. It's just a copy. Where is the certification?

But as USCIS website suggests,Documents the Applicant Must Submit to the NVC is just a photocopy of the original documents. Further it suggests that Principal Applicant (me ..sitting here in India) should take the original documents to interview to verify. Then why my lawyer (sitting in US) is asking for certified or original copies ?

Secondly, how can I get a certified copy of PCC, Biographic data pages ? They must be either submitted original or photocopied.

Thanks

you have to ask your attorney why he needs the original copy and let him know that you've read the requirements it only needs a photocopy and you will have to bring the original or certified at the consulate during the interview...

passport biographic page you only have to xerox copy it and send it to your attorney...
