Should Iran be allowed to have nuclear weapons?

I'm almost of the opinion that Iran should be allowed to have nuclear weapons. I believe that eventually most countries will have nukes and they will be used again, it's only a matter of time. I won't be surprised if they have nuclear weapons before Obama is out of office.

On pure fairness, it doesn't make any sense that few powerhouse countries

can load up on nuclear weapons and then declare...OK that's it,

No Mas...No More...Only we can have nukes.

What if top 1% income families get all the guns they want, and then declare

OK...that's it, no more handguns allowed because it could end up

with wrong hands???

If they are going to put a ban on nuclear weapons,

I think every country should confirm to that agreement.

What if bunch of countries had nuke and US didn't

but they are trying to ban US from having it,

I doubt US would listen to anyone.

Also, if they are trying to ban nuke, why is Israel never harassed

on their nukes???

Iran signed the non nuclear proliferation treaty, so they should not try to develop nuclear weapons.

The treaty allows for the use and development of nuclear energy for peaceful uses. They should be allowed to have a nuclear program, just like other parties to the treaty, such as Canada and Japan. Modern nuclear reactors require enriched uranium. There's not really an easy way around that.

Why not? The US has them. No nation with nukes has the moral athourity to prevent other nations from having them.

This reasoning can only apply to countries that did not sign the nuclear non proliferation treaty. Those countries are India, Pakistan, Israel. North Korea also withdrew.

Iran is currently a party to the treaty so the morality of haves vs have nots is not really an issue.

A country that has been a consistent supporter and financier of terrorism for decades should not have nuclear weapons. That's a no brainer.

But Israel was/is.... and a nuclear proliferator as well... Oh, wait! That was like 50 years ago when they got caught red handed trying to sell to Apartheid S.A.... I guess all sins are forgiven once the world realizes you got nukes.

The past is gone. Today is most important. I'd rather Israel have nukes than Iran.

Why are you that certain? India has nukes because of Israel, and by a peculiar twist of fate, so does Pakistan. A leopard can not change its spots.

Why won't Israel sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Iran has. The IAEA can inspect Iran's facilities. They cannot inspect Israel's. What is Israel hiding?

Pakistan got nukes because of Israel? I can see India since India doesn't want to wipe them off the map.

The main difference being, the countries that now have nukes, have not declared their determination to wipe other countries off the map, and have not worked to actually make it happen. Iran has.

So when is Israel turning in her nukes?

Too predictable. Same day the US does.

Israel is an ally, Iran isn't. Pakistan is a frenemy.

Turkey is an ally. Saudi Arabia is an ally. Mexico is an ally. Even France is an ally. Being one of our allies doesn't mean as much as it used to. Right now, the Administration's message to Israel is STFU. Of course, Obama is trying to ease tensions a little, by having a couple of his high ranking staff go visit AIPAC wearing Hooters outfits.

We all know that Iran's signature on such a document ain't worth the paper it is written on.

Signing and complying can be two different things, no?

Exactly.
