Good in what way? I guess I can see the attraction for rightwing nuts. I have met Americans who admire how Saudi treats people who have been found guilty of crime in Saudi. Never mind that foreign workers in Saudi, I'm not speaking about white people from western countries, are often treated as slaves, raped and murdered with virtual impunity, in fact it's not unheard of for victims of sexual assault to be punished when they make the mistake of reporting their abusers to authorities.

Just the other week a Saudi historian was on TV saying that women who drive can expect to be raped.

It is an oppressive, brutal country. And the US supports them not because they are nice people but because they have oil.

And why is it people object to ISIS? Strangely nothing to do with oil.

Morally bankrupt.

Such a peaceful religion.

Islam has been around for about 1100 years.

How was Christianity after 1100 years? Recall the atrocities committed during the Crusades under the popes in Rome.

Burning witches in the name of Christianity?

How about the Catholics and Protestants in the last century?

Christianity is not such a peaceful religion itself.

Don't judge Islam as a not "peaceful religion" without looking at other religions.

I agree. In one instance, someone was harmed or killed, in the other no harm came to anyone. I am against capital punishment though.

Not in our value system it isn't. Assuming the murder was committed by the accused, given that the justice system in Saudi isn't at all likely to be corrupt

I think Americans have to look objectively at which regimes they support morally, because it seems to vary depending on who the flavour of the month is in the news.

Do judge Islam as not "peaceful religion" without looking at other religions.

I don't think you can even have that conversation until people are prepared to question why one group of fanatical murderers is the enemy but another isn't.

It doesn't make a huge amount of sense.

I don't recall any first world countries government convicting and sentencing someone to death for renouncing Christianity, but I'd certainly read a link if you want to proved one.

Personally speaking, if you condemn ISIS but aren't willing to condemn Saudi for its justice system you have as much credibility as Long John Silver trying to run a charity night.

Oh how advance.

Please read up on some history. People have been killed for rejecting Christianity.

It may not happen in first world countries today, but it has happened in the past. It's happened in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, England, etc. Remember all the good Christians who tried to kill all the non-believers (Jews, gypsies, etc.) during WWII?

In Catholic Sunday schools, I was taught that all non-believers including Protestants were doom to hell.

While I condemn what happens in SA, I am not so arrogant as to ignore the atrocities perpetrated by my fellow Christians over time.

Show me where it has happened in modern times in a first world country? How is that being arrogant?

When did Christians kill non believers in Germany during WWII? I recall a much larger genocide, and it had nothing to do with religion. Edited by spookyturtle

Does noone know why people make a fuss about ISIS but not Saudi Arabia's justice system? I know why the government does it, but what about the general public who are supposedly motivated by morality?
