Chase has some pretty ridiculous minimum balance you need to have in your account to not be fee'd $10/month. Kas opened his bank account there last September. I don't know exactly what he needed other than his passport. In December, we went back to add me onto it, and he couldn't because he didn't have a US mailing address.

I think in order to by-pass the fee, you need to have a savings account with at least $500 in it as well as your checking account? Don't quote me on that though.

I bank at Wells Fargo, and they have lots of hidden fees... I would suggest Key Bank or a Credit Union.

New Jersey has a 'non-driving' licence that you can apply for that purely gives you an ID you can use as a photo ID for age and identity verification - extremely useful! Perhaps your state has something similar?

You go along to the Department of transport with your passport birth certificate and other bits, and you then end up with what is effectively a state photo id in your married name.

We had no idea there was such a thing, and a nice lady in Walmart told us all about it in the Queue when we were taking an item back to customer service.....so we went along, and applied...and got it

Thank you! I've had a temporary leaners permit there before on a J1 visa so hoping I won't have to take the computer test again haha

Learners permits are good in Oregon for 2 years and than you have one more year of expiration before you would have to retake it. So that's a total of 3 year that you can have a learners permit and renew it without having to take the test.

My wife is facing a weird state with that too. She got a learners permit for 3 months only because the I-94 expires and there is no way of getting a regular 2 year permit without NOA2 letter from AOS or the EAD so now she will have an expired ID for about 2 or 3 months until we are waiting for the EAD and we are hoping she will not have to retake it.
