Hi all and thanks for input thus far.

I am a US citizen and have petitioned for my wife to get an IR1 visa. We are through the process including medical and awaiting an interview date. All forms and applicant readiness are completed including affidavit of support.

1. Because of my work situation it looks like I will need to go to the US ahead of my wife. Can/should she attend the interview alone so long as she has all the documents and the means to pay the fees?

2. Will it be 6 weeks for sure or does it happen earlier in any cases?

Thank you.

In most cases there is no need for the sponsor to accompany the beneficiary to the interview. Your wife should be OK on her own.

The 6-week mark is an average. You shouldn't count on it for the purpose of booking tickets or making plans.

Good luck!
