'Every single French Jew I know has left Paris': Editor of Britain's Jewish Chronicle claims people are fleeing terror-hit French capital
Jews are fleeing terror-hit Paris because of growing anti-Semitism in France, one of Britain's most influential Jewish journalists said today.
Stephen Pollard, editor of the Jewish Chronicle, spoke out after an Islamic terrorist took six people hostage and held them captive in a Kosher supermarket in the French capital.
This afternoon police ordered all shops in a famous Jewish neighborhood in central Paris to close.
The mayor's office in Paris announced the closure of shops along the Rosiers street in Paris' Marais neighborhood, in the heart of the tourist district and less than a mile away from the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo where 12 people were killed on Wednesday.
Hours before the Jewish Sabbath, the street is usually crowded with French Jews and tourists alike.
Mr Pollard said today's terror attack in Paris, linked to the massacre at the office of Charlie Hebdo, will force more French Jews to flee the country.
Many are moving to Britain or to Israel, according to a report published in the newspaper last year.
He said the fact that a terrorist had chosen to target a Jewish store was no 'fluke'.

There is a reason for the recent exponential increase of antisemitism in Europe. It will be very difficult to overcome it as the US is the most anti Semitic group on the planet.

France promises to fight anti-Semitism after attack

France's interior minister has vowed to make the fight against anti-Semitism a "national cause" following an attack on a Jewish couple last week.
Bernard Cazenueve was addressing a rally in the Paris suburb of Creteil where the attack took place.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the attack, in which a woman was raped and money stolen.
Officials say there has been a sharp increase in the number of anti-Semitism attacks in France in recent months.
Mr Cazeneuve told hundreds of assembled demonstrators that the government would defend France's Jewish community with "all its force".
"We must make the fight against racism and anti-Semitism a national cause," he said.
Jews 'in danger'
Roger Cukierman, the head of France's umbrella group for Jewish organisations, the CRIF, said that anti-Semitism was an increasing problem in France.
"Jews feel in danger. Some are already leaving France," he said at the rally.
Lawyers said the young couple were targeted because of their religion.
One of the attackers allegedly told the male victim "you Jews, you have money".

France has the largest Jewish community in Europe and a recent report said there had been a significant increase in anti-Semitic acts there this year.
Earlier this year, a French jihadist was accused of murdering four people in a gun attack on the Jewish museum in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
Two years ago, three Jewish children and their teacher were among seven people murdered by French Islamist Mohamed Merah in the southern city of Toulouse.

France does NOT have the first amendment. They do NOT have free speech. You cannot openly criticize Muslims in France and Europe or you will be prosecuted. Criticize a Christian then you will probably be issued a gold star or a merit badge. The story of Bridgette Bardot is just one of many hundreds. Hopefully, this will change.

Brigitte Bardot on trial for Muslim slur

(Reuters) - French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of "inciting racial hatred" over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.
Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts".
Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.
She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.
Prosecutor Anne de Fontette told the court she was seeking a tougher sentence than usual, adding: "I am a little tired of prosecuting Mrs Bardot."
Bardot did not attend the trial because she said she was physically unable to. The verdict is expected in several weeks.
French anti-racist groups complained last year about comments Bardot made about the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha in a letter to President Nicolas Sarkozy that was later published by her foundation.
Muslims traditionally mark Eid al-Adha by slaughtering a sheep or another animal to commemorate the prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son on God's orders.
France is home to 5 million Muslims, Europe's largest Muslim community, making up 8 percent of France's population.
"I am fed up with being under the thumb of this population which is destroying us, destroying our country and imposing its acts," the star of 'And God created woman' and 'Contempt' said.
Bardot has previously said France is being invaded by sheep-slaughtering Muslims and published a book attacking gays, immigrants and the unemployed, in which she also lamented the "Islamisation of France".

Interestingly those of us who criticise the USA have actually spent significant time there to have reached our own conclusions.

Those conclusions, at least in my case, clearly explain the rationale behind posts like the one above.

Some things never change.
