I don't know what "assigned to an officer for review" means exactly. I would be encouraged. What has been posted on this site in various places on this site is that if you make an inquiry , the file usually gets processed very quickly. I don't think they want to mess with going back and forth with a Congressional office. So I would tend to be optimistic.

By the way, you got very good service from your very nice lady. At the very least you have to feel better about taking some steps to manage the situation ( when we sadly have so little control or information )

You're right! I feel good that the lady who contacted me was not rude or dismissive...I can't wait to hear from her again with some news...hopefully good =)

Today there was movement on my case, it was touched...they finally changed my wifes date of birth to the correct date, they sent me a I797 back in August with her birthday listed as August 7, 2013....SMH, that is our marriage date.

Hopefully the touch today will ultimately turn into a approval next week as I am well past 5 months!

I suspect that all of the USCIS Service Centers are still awash with the remnants of the aftermath of the "tsunami" caused by the greater than 800,000 DACA-related requests in 2014: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/Reports%20and%20Studies/Immigration%20Forms%20Data/All%20Form%20Types/DACA/DACA_fy2014_qtr4.pdf

Additionally, it is likely that little was accomplished at the service centers from 19 Dec 2014 through 5 January 2015 due to the holidays. Finally, with all of the workload shifting between the various service centers, it is starting to look like a "Perfect Storm."

Hopefully we all will see some positive activity soon.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Congratulations!

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

I received a call from my Congressman office today. The very nice lady that call me before stated "it was good you contacted us because there seemed to be a problem with the proccessing of your case. I believe it was sitting in someone's office and no one was doing anything with it" I was happy she called but so angry that USCIS can do this things and get away with it. Then she forwarded the following email from NSC:

From: USCIS Nebraska Service Center Congressional Unit

Sent: Monday, January 12, 2015 1:04 PM
To: Browne, Yovanna
Cc: USCIS Nebraska Service Center Congressional Unit
Subject: (RLM 114-001515) RE: Congressional Inquiry/Durham CRM:0455871

LINXXXXXXX

Form I-130

Good afternoon Yovanna,

This e-mail is in reply to your inquiry regarding Ms. Durham’s Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, she filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on July 10, 2014.

We spoke to the background check Supervisor regarding Ms. Durham’s petition. Ms. Durham’s petition has been pulled off the waiting to be assigned shelf and given to a background check officer for background check processing. Once Ms. Durham’s petition has been reviewed by the background check unit, the petition will be transferred to an adjudication officer for final review.

We hope this information is helpful. If we may be of further assistance, please let us know.

Kind Regards,

Congressional Liaison Specialist

Congressional Unit

USCIS Nebraska Service Center

I hope this helps move my case along....no telling when I would hear from uscis.

This is just wrong on so many levels...who answers to ####### like this....So you were/are in Nebraska also. I had a feeling that once I "made them look" at the petition sometthing was soon to happen, and it sure enough did. So is that the norm? we have to force their hand to get them to move??? SMFH :ranting::diablo:

  • 2 weeks later...

After almost 7 months waiting our case was APPROVED today!!!! I am so happy to have completed this step and we look forward to the next part of our journey with NVC. I believe that contacting the congressman had a lot to do with it being processed. Good luck to all with pending approvals.
