09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hey- if you sent your stuff in July, hang tight. We sent our stuff last January and didn't hear anything for 6 months. Hang tight. You should hear soon (your stuff is at TSC - ignore the posts you see about CSC - they're processing much faster).

In the meantime, get all your stuff ready for NOA2!! We did a lot of stuff ahead of time and it helped us get an interview quicker.

Welcome to visa journey! Update your timeline :)

As the title says! I've only just joined this forum but I sent my application off back in July and have still not received any communication since it was first 'received'. Is this normal?

Thanks

Katie.

The normal processing time is supposed to be five months, and you're now past that point. Call up USCIS and start asking questions. Yes, TSC is running late. Don't let anyone tell you that "running behind" is the new normal. They're late. You can start making noise, and you should.

Well, considering that persons are still waiting for further notice from June applications, I'd say you've still unfortunately got to wait a while. If you call them up they will tell you, they are still working on May and that they are behind. This is of course not true, as they seem to have done up to mid-June at this point. But you certainly have a right to call them and pester them to get off their butts. Try speaking to a tier 2 agent, they might be able to speed things along, unless they can't be bothered. Seeing as you are from PA, that means your application is being handled by TSC, and unfortunately we're all in the same boat with that slow mind-numbing mess. If I had to crack a guess, I'd say you might expect some movement by Feb-Mar. If you haven't heard anything by at least Feb, I'd start making a lot of noise and start contacting your politicians.

Katie.

When you say you have still not received any communication... you did get a receipt notice of some sort... yes? That is known here as your NOA1... (notice of action 1)

Read the guides, (top of this page)... and complete your timeline as suggested.. It does make it easier for people to give you accurate responses to any questions you might have.

So far, yes there are still some June and lots of July filers that haven't had their NOA2... (approval of petition)...

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .
