I'm wondering how long it takes before the case is shipped to the NVC and how long it takes to arrive, get entered and a case # assigned.

We have one case NOA2 12/24/14 and our second is 01/02/15 (petitions for parents).

I'm curious how soon I should start pestering (I mean calling ;-)) the NVC...

Thanks!

Our NOA2 was Oct 17 from Nebraska, but wasn't sent to NVC until Oct 28, and was "checked in" at the NVC on Nov 13. We got our case number about a month later.

Mar 2014 - Married

5/7/14?? - Attorney mailed paperwork

5/15/14 DHS cashed check

5/19/14 - NOA1 received with PD 5/12/14

10/17/14 - NOA2 received

10/28/14 - Email received that file has been sent to NVC

11/13/14 - NVC received file

12/10/14 - NVC Assigned case number

12/12/14 - AOS Fee Invoiced

12/13/14 - Submit email to NVC to remove attorney as DS-261 Agent

12/16/14 - AOS Fee showing as Paid

12/17/14 - IV Fee invoiced

12/20/14 - IV fee available and paid

12/27/14 - DS-260 submitted

1/2/15 - AOS and IV packages sent to NVC

1/5/15 - USPS delivered packages to NVC

1/7/15 - NVC scanned in packages. Let the countdown begin...

1/30/15 - FINALLY got a reply to my email to remove the attorney from the DS-261

3/9/15 - Called NVC and they have checklisted us for an "incorrect" decree absolute from the UK, even though it is the legal official document. Have requested a supervisor review.

4/28/15 - Called and NVC said supervisor had reviewed and now claimed that the decree absolute was not included. After disagreeing with the less than helpful lady on the phone, and her not being able to get the review time right. (She kept changing her story between 42 days and 30 days).

4/30/15 - Sent the same copy of the decree absolute to the NVC from the UK, highlighting the "decree absolute" wording with a letter stating that this is the only document provided by the UK government.

5/6/15 - Scan date for checklist received.

6/5/15 - Case complete!!!

6/12/15 - Called and interview is scheduled for July 1!

6/14/15 - Received email with interview date and instructions.

6/19/15 - Case showing as ready on CEAC.

7/1/15 - Approved at interview!!!

7/6/15 - CEAC changed to Administrative Processing

7/7/15 - CEAC changed to Issued!!!!!

7/10/15 - Passport and packet delivered!

Thanks for the responses!

Oh wow. Sigh. Here I was hoping things would pick up speed. I thought USCIS step would be the longest. :-(

Did the USCIS case update on line tell you when (date) the case was shipped? Both still say approved on line, but nothing about having been sent to NVC. However, we got the hardcopy NOA2 and it says it was sent to NVC but didn't give a date. So I was wondering how to find out when things were sent/received etc. Is that done through phone calls?

I know, I know - so impatient ;-)

I hope everything goes smoothly, no checklists and people get reunited quickly. This process is definitely draining!

Well, today got an update on the second case that was approved indicating it was sent to the NVC today. It was approved 01/02/2015. We haven't received any update on the first case that was approved on 12/24/2014. I called USCIS to find out if the first case had been sent and why I didn't get an update. The lady I spoke with, Hannah, wouldn't confirm whether the first case had been shipped, said it could take 30-90 days for a case to be sent to the NVC and if I hadn't heard anything after 90 days, and only then, I should call back.

I let her know I got the hard copy NOA2 which states the case had been sent to NVC for both and I received that BEFORE this update and it was confusing.

I was then told that the online updates were a courtesy and did not need to be updated. Uh.... what?

In the private sector this kind of service would drive your business under.

Vent over.

This makes me wonder if the first petition approved on 12/24/2014 still hasn't been sent to the NVC then, since we've had no update (email or online) for that one. I was hoping to start calling the NVC in a week or so to find out if they had received the case(s) so I could estimate when the case #/IIN might be assigned.

I get that this is parents and not a spouse, but they're extremely anxious to migrate to see grandkids. We're still eager to get through this process expeditiously like everyone else.
