Deceased parent/s

Hi! I just got engaged and is in the process of filing our K1 Visa application through an agency. One of the agency's text fields would require answering whether my parents or one of my parents have already passed away and in my case, one had already passed away. Do I still need to prepare a death certificate for my deceased parent?

I believe you just write "deceased" on their G325a and do not need to provide evidence of this, but others with more experience in this area will be able to help also.

Have you found any listed requirement for a death certificate for a deceased parent?

Both of my parents, and one of my wife's parents had already been dead for over ten years when we started our visa journey. I do not recall seeing any such requirement. YMMV. We merely inserted "deceased" where it was was appropriate on the respective form(s) and submitted as instructed. We did not use any agency.

It is best to follow the official directions, review the VJ example forms, and follow the VJ Guides. It is easy to over-read, over-do, and stress yourself out unnecessarily.
