Gas prices dip to under $2 a gallon

Drivers across the country are doing a double take at the pump. "I kind of almost assumed that was the wrong price when I was pulling up." Gas prices have dropped to below $2 a gallon in parts of the country. In Tulsa, Oklahoma, one happy driver filled up her Suburban for less than 40 dollars. "Pretty awesome, it's great. I'm happy, happy holidays." The last time gas prices dipped under the $2 mark was more than 5 years ago. In California, prices at the pump haven't gone down quite as low, but it's a nice break from the $3 a gallon drivers are used to paying. But there is a downside to cheaper gas. SOUNDBITE: ALYSSA DUNN, CALIFORNIA DRIVER, SAYING: "As soon as the gas prices got this low, so many more cars were on the road." The lower gas prices are fueling heavier traffic on the highways as drivers take advantage of the discount just in time for the holidays.

I wonder if people think that the office of the president (any and all presidents) has more power than it actually does. Can any of them really take credit for, or blame for things like falling gas prices or global warming.

They aint god er nothin'

My bad. I learned here on VJ that high gas prices are Obama's fault. Following that train of thought, he should get credit for lower gas prices. The wind must have turned suddenly.

i think you got off track when you said, following that train of thought..

Gas prices are only news to all the "experts" that kept selling us that they are going to go over $5 a gallon. Now that prices have been cut by almost half, they are finally on board, now they suddenly predict lower prices. "Experts" are the perfect herd. They are always late to the trend. So beware, now that it's finally popular to say oil and gas prices are going down, I think they are actually at least close to a short term bottom. mid to long term I believe they will keep declining. I called this decline when the "experts" called prices going higher, and now that the experts are on the bandwagon it's time to call a bounce. Beware when a trend becomes too popular, that means it's almost exhausted.
