NOA2 Approval Thread - June 2014 TSC Filers

Made this thread for those of us who've received our NOA2s and want to continue asking questions and sharing experiences with other filers that we've come to know - without upsetting or annoying any June filers that haven't received their approvals yet!

That being said - congrats on all the recent approvals!!!! It's happening!! :)

We found out that our case was shipped to the Department of State on Friday, 12/12 - anyone else get their case shipped that day too? Or have any NVC/DOS experiences to share?

so I'm actually going to be in UK from Christmas until January 4th and I figured rather than blowing up the phone to NVC from there I'll just get the case number in January when I return. Do you think that's a bad idea?

PS I know the point about UK is totally unrelated haha

I don't think it's a bad idea to wait until you're back - I don't think much will be done over the holidays since Christmas Day & New Years Day are federal holidays. But if you are able to call via Skype, might be a good idea if you're eager to get your case number. I think the only reason people call is to get their case numbers sooner than when they arrive in the mail. Then the medicals can be booked (to my understanding) as soon as you have that case number.

Actually - super jealous, wish I were going to be in the UK for the holidays! I'm the petioner, so my fiance and I will be apart for one last holiday season. :(

I got a message from another Polish girl. She tried numerous times to reach NVC to get her case number. After so many attempts she gave up. She is after her medical exams. I am curious how is that possible? I always thought that in order to book your doc and embassy appointment you need to have the number. I may call tomorrow the medical center and check with them.

Hmmm, that is weird. But every embassy is different, so might be good to call. I know for London we have to have the case number before we can book the medical exam - and the medical has to be done before the embassy contacts us (well, my fiance) with an interview date.

Also, there are so many posts about calling NVC or DOS. Has anyone tried calling and gotten anywhere? What number did you call?

Ours was shipped out on Friday so I might start calling for our case number by the end of the week.

I called NVC since Monday trying to get my case number. This morning they notified that they have received my petition but that a case number was not assigned yet. I will call again tomorrow.

The best times to call is in the morning. At the first try the call went though but I was on hold for 20 min. On Monday I called around noon and I had to call 80 times until someone picked up.

Most people received their case number soon after their case being at NVC.

genr87 - if they got your case already, I read on here that it only takes a couple of days to get a case number assigned after they receive it. So fingers crossed that it's tomorrow for you!!

What info do you need when calling them? just full names/birthdays and the alien registration number?

Looks like I'm a couple of days behind you on the NVC ship day....so I might hold off on calling them for just a few more days (I say this now, tomorrow might be a different story ;) )

35 days???

yeah I don't think any of us have much patience left to wait for a case number assigned in 35 days.

(meaning, I think we'll all be calling daily hahaha)

Our NOA2 approval was on December 4th and mailed to the NVC on December 9th and I called everyday and each time they told me it wasn't there yet and it usually takes 35 days. I usually call first thing when they open in the morning and still have to wait around 30 minutes on hold each time. Yesterday they said they hadn't received it and then this morning when I called at 6:35am Central time he told me it was there and had been given a case number just 10 minutes prior to him talking to me. So the case number seems like it gets assigned within a day or two which is awesome. My fiancé now has his medical scheduled in London on January 3rd, which was the earliest they had available.

January 3rd?! That's amazing news! I read that you can call until midnight - I might give it a try tonight. I hope my fiance can get a date for the medical that quickly!

Mine arrived yesterday too. I will call tomorrow morning and hopefully I will be as lucky as you since we have the same dates.

Definitely nobody should wait 35 days to call them. We don't lose anything calling everyday.
