It's been soooooooooo cold here lately and it's only getting colder the next few days! I thought I was kinda used to the weather here but I've been freezing my butt off the past two weeks.

On a funnier note:

Mom-in-law emailed this earlier.

MINNESOTA TEMPERATURE CONVERSION CHART

Minnesotans throw on a flannel shirt.

Minnesota are selling cookies door to door.

Ummmm.... No it has not... This in fact has been a very warm winter (for Minnesota)... You are in for a surprise this weekend when the temperature drops to -25 to -30F.

We usually have an average of 30 days below 0 each year. From what I've heard, February will make up for the lackluster performance thus far.

Oh, btw Raspberry, I was suppose to tell you where i get my baklava. Holy Land Groccery Store - Central Avenue Minneapolis - one stop shopping for ME food. Also, I'm not sure how similar Turkish food is to the traditional levant stuff, but Marina Grill and Deli on West University has an excellent buffett.

I've found the meats there to be decent and the bread to be nearly always fresh out of the oven, but do check the expiration date on anything else. My husband found some bashmel mix that was expired, so he pointed it out to the store clerks. The next time we went back, they had the same bshmel packets, but with stickers over the expiration dates

Haven't had any negative experiences with Marina

So I guess I'm not allowed to keep complaining about the weather being in the 50's here!!!

I obviously have no concept to what real cold weather is like. Here in Austin, we had a cold front blow through a couple of weeks ago and it was like 30 degrees with some rain as well, so everything iced over and we had about 20 minutes of what we consider snow. The entire city and its surrounding towns completely shut down. Whenever I'm in TX and not Belize I substitute teach and the schools closed for like 3 days because that's how long it took for the ice to completely melt. I wasn't sure we were gonna make it :o;)

I feel for y'all in the cold places and I hope it gets better soon.

Hugs,

Erin :luv:

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

50° F: New Yorkers try to turn on the heat. Minnesotans plant gardens.

Heck, I'll start planting my tomatos once it doesn't go below 32 degrees at night. The heck with waiting until 50 degrees.

40° F: Italian & English cars won't start. Minnesotans drive with the

windows down.

I do this until it gets around freezing.
20° F: Floridians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats.

Minnesotans throw on a flannel shirt.

Definately light winter coat weather. No need for the heavy ones yet.

15° F: New York landlords finally turn up the heat. Minnesotans have the

last cookout before it gets cold.

We were eying the bbq this last weekend for our lamb ribs. Decided against it because it was covered in snow.
0° F: All the people in Miami die. Minnesotans close the windows.

Our windows are still open for at least 15 minutes a day to get some fresh air circulating.

Cold is good - at least you can wrap up warm and go outside and play with the snow :) No seriously, that does sound a bit too cold for me. The coldest I've been in is -30 degrees centigrade (What's all this Faranheit stuff!) up a mountain in the alps, and that was pretty cold. My face froze if I remember correctly.

California's starting to get to me.. I don't think I was born to live in a sunny place. And I'm getting wrinkles from too much sun exposure :o haha

It did rain yesterday though.
