X-rays and breast implants

Being at the medical field I believe I can add to this: in terms of X-rays of the lungs for TB, implants should not interfere by any means. We are looking at lung tissue in that case. However, for later on mammograms where we precisely look for mammary tissue it can interfere, and might hinder small lesions to be detectable, hence can have risk of potentially delaying diagnosis for breast cancer.

My wife is from Cebu.

I am not sure how many "breast implants" the St. Luke's Medical Center has seen, I assure you not too many on a K-1,.,.,I would be very careful, and informed on this, would hate to see anyone get sent through the """SPUTUM FIASCO"" St. Luke's is famous for, and lose almost 3 months as my wife did!

The doctors need to be well informed!

Hi again all...

My fiance has had breast implants. Our question is has anyone experienced any dificulties related to the chest x-rays, physical exam or surgery report requirements???

Not sure where to post this but my fiance is in the Philippines so maybe the question should be specific about the exam at SLEC??

We just want to be prepared if they require a report and if the implants might cause any problems in the X-ray...

Thanks so much and Happythanksgiving to all...

Chris & Kris too..

Well, I have and I am soooo sure it is not going to be an issue. Doesn't make any sense to be one...

Haha! lol

Radiologists are experienced with reading Xrays of women with implants. This should not deter them from evaluating TB. It may require a lateral chest view in addition to the usual PA view. Mammograms are for breast tissue and surrounding chest wall evaluation only...not lung tissue.

Hi Lioness... Thanks for clearing this up... Your reply is exactly what we were asking about. Just wanting to make sure the implants don't cause a delay in the x-ray and medical exam results. Also to see if it may have caused any other folks grief or encountered any delays etc...

Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving!!

I'm still trying to figure out if he did it intentionally. It's almost funnier if it was an accidental choice of words! Hahaha

That's what I'm LOLing about. The topic is about breasts & he says "keep us abreast of..."
