Marriage after green card

Hi,

my DV-interview will be approximately around April 2015.

if I get married now and update my DS-260 to include my partner, will my green card file experience a delay? Will I risk to be given a green card if I update my DS-260?

So, is it better to get married before or after the green card will be given?

Many thanks

The DV interview is not guaranteed.

Getting married now may raise questions about intention and if you can explain and connive your CO, there could be some delay and you will be good. It will definitely add some delay on the process as your wife will be added in your application.

If you marry after green she will need to file for I-130 which is going to be a even longer process :-(

Getting married after green card is less risky but massive time consuming whereas before could be risky but will take less time to get your wife.

Is it making sense?

Been together with the partner for a long time and have evidence to back it up? If yes - get married and add them to your visa interview.

Thank you guys!

Which evidence can I be asked at the interview to prove that it is a true marriage?

if I get married now, do I risk not to get the green card or I risk only a delay?

We have been together for 10 years, we started to date when we were in college.

Anyway we never lived together, and right now he is in another state where he is getting his PhD done therefore he will not be able to move with me, if not for a short period of time, until the end of 2015/beginning of 2016.

See my response in your other thread, You're not risking anything - in low-fraud embassies people are suggested to get married prior to the interview as getting a GC for spouse later on (as a resident) is massive PIA.

Thank you, I also saw your other reply in the other thread.

I see that getting married seems to be the best solution.

I may be able to get married in January 2015 and to update my DS-260 form by the end of the month.

My case number is 22XXX and my interview would have been around April.

All this considered and according to your experience, how much delay may I experience? A couple months or up to even 1 year?

I don't really have any DV experience, but I'm not sure why you keep mentioning delay ? There will no delay if you include spouse, no reason for one. All DV visas for given fiscal year have to be issued by September 30th (I believe) so year long delay will result in no visa - but again - I believe you're not going to experience any delay.

Because they would have to review my DS-260 form and make adjustments and this is going to cause some delays, I read so in some other threads and forums.

Then now I only have to understand how much delay I may experience.

Thank you for your help!

Reading experience of polish DV winners (on a different, polish forum), they haven't experience any delays at all in the same situation. But again - never even applied for DV myself, not even talking about winning it.
