I am looking for people going through administrative processing at USA consulate in Mumbai, India.

My wife had her interview at Mumbai consulate on October 10 of 2014. Consulate officer gave her 221g and asked her to submit more proof of relationship.

She has sent documents via document drop off location on October 15th. We have not heard anything since. It says administrative processing on CEAC website.

What to do? How to resolve this ASAP? How long administrative processing takes at Mumbai consulate on average?

Sorry to hear this... What kind of case CR-1 ?? and which state are you from ?? .. What kind of proof did you submit.. and did she answer all the questions... ?

Administrative processing: If your visa application was refused with a "221 (g)" notation for further administrative processing, please read the instructions below.

The Consulate cannot provide additional details on your case status. This processing is mandatory under Section 221g of the U.S. Immigration and nationality Act, and cannot be expedited. We cannot predict how long this process will take as it varies based on the individual circumstances of each case. When administrative processing is complete, we will contact you by email and/or telephone with instructions on how to submit your passport.

I just read on consulate website that most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of your visa interview. Someone called Mumbai consulate phone number and they also said same thing.

So I guess now I am interested in talking to people who went through administrative processing. I want to know if within 60 days is right or wrong.

Nope... I am from South India... Do you have any red flags like prior marriages ? they just want to verify your relationship.. They might send field officers to your neighborhood to investigate ... so it takes time...

give them what they are looking for. try to resolve before they send your case back to USCIS for review. contact your congressman and senator and put some pressure. i am going through same thing.

Did they ask you to submit additional documents ? ... need to know red flags on your case... typical mumbai AP's won't take much time.. may be clear in few months.. Usual Mumbai immigrant AP cases had some big red flags...

no, they not need any documents, ya I have red flags on my case.... but today they update my case but not manson .

Hello VJ,

Today my husband had an interview ..He didn't get declined but they gave 221g white paper..They told my hubby to dropoff the joint sponsor..I dont understand why they are not checking the current income..They checked the 2014 tax returns and saying the sponsor is not making enough so ask him to dropoff the joint sponsor paper works...Its under AP now..Even if I submit in 2 weeks ..how long its going to take ...someone please answer this.. 221(g) due to petitioner income near poverty threshold and no joint sponsor. Get a joint sponsor, paystubs, and employment letter.

Once done, AP shouldn't take long, maybe few weeks.
