name confusion for mom

She should follow what's on her birth certificate.... Or file an affidavit of change of name.

My parents names are also messed up. Wrong spelling... They went to municipal court to correct the error. They both got passports with the corrected name. Reason for change is clerical error. - I am just sharing my experience.

It's better that your mother's name remains same in all the documents. Looks like her name got shortened in your birth certificate..That can be rectified by providing a suitable evidence.

how long is the process for name correction? my birth cert. was type written and my mom said it was the midwife who filled it up.. everything else are correctly spelled except the MARIA to MA.

It took about less than a week for them to fix it. My dad's last name is Munoz, on her birth cerificate it wa Munios. We changed it to Munoz because all his docs are Munoz.

My mom name is Elisa, on her birth certifcate it was Eliza. She changed it also.

It is easy change, just lots of paper works
