It is naive to think that you can control with your "how you met explanation" how quickly your file gets approved. People have randomly been in approved in short times as long as I've been observing it.

So, to answer your question, my second I-130 was approved within 24 hours.

See, that's really helpful information for you/anyone else to know.

No one thinks it is controllable by the explanation - the point is every forms people filled out are same, that a small parts are different. So, there are nothing everyone can do to make the process faster, except fill out the form correctly.

I am with my boo for 5 years and we have known each other for 8 years. We have lived together for one year while I was doing my training in the US. I hoped it will prove that our relationship is genuine and the process will go quickly. We are waiting over 4 months for NOA2. Fingers crossed it will come soon :)

Unless you have made mistakes with your application or have a particularly complicated case, or have a name which gets stuck in the security checks for some reason then once your file hits the desk of an adjudicator it can be approved within hours/days.

The waiting is in nearly all cases simply for your file to get to the front of the queue - it's sitting on a shelf somewhere or in a filing box.

Sometimes one service center is really on top of a particular visa category and you can see just how fast things move.

The frustrating thing about USCIS is that the processing often falls out of 'date received order'. Over the last 7 years I have been on this board no one can really explain why it happens - but it does all the time. So for example... you'll see a big chunk of March filers being processed while large numbers of January filers are still waiting untouched.

In my own case - we got stuck in backlog in 2007 and our file sat untouched at Vermont for nearly ten months. It was so backlogged we didn't even get the NOA1 for 90 days. Vermont finally gave up and sent a load of its files to California. Once it landed in California it took about a week to get the NOA2.

Various theories I've seen.

Inefficient system of storing the files at USCIS - they are all shoved in a room somewhere and sometimes they just start grabbing the nearest ones and they are not in date order.

Deliberate processing of more recent dates to 'fix' the target dates they set themselves

Speed differences between different adjudicators - ie if one guy grabs a box of files to work through and then goes on vacation for a week those files sit on his desk and wait until he gets back. Or he's just a lot slower than the next guy.

Who knows. It's annoying that the system is so random and inefficient sometimes but it is, and a lot of how fast your file gets processed is down to luck. The luck of being at the faster center etc.

It sounds like they need more staff and perhaps even a whole other office location to speed up the process!

It is the government, it is by design the opposite of whatever an efficient business would look like.

I remember those days ! I have been on VJ since 2006 (new user ID now) and that is exactly how I remember it all going down and the

discussions going on about it. CSC was also much slower in previous years and it took us 5 1/2 months at CSC for our first rodeo.
