UNC report finds 18 years of academic fraud to keep athletes playing

Chapel Hill, North Carolina (CNN) -- For 18 years, thousands of students at the prestigious University of North Carolina took fake "paper classes," and advisers funneled athletes into the program to keep them eligible, according to a scathing independent report released Wednesday.

"These counselors saw the paper classes and the artificially high grades they yielded as key to helping some student-athletes remain eligible," Kenneth Wainstein wrote in his report. He conducted an eight-month investigation into the scandal, which has plagued the university for nearly five years.

Four employees have been fired and five more disciplined because of their roles. One other former employee had honorary status removed, Chancellor Carol Folt said Wednesday

Anyone that had been in these classes needs to have their degree pulled . Fraud plain and simple . For certain this did not comprise of only one course . What percentage of class hours in these fake courses make up the degree... 50 ... 75 %.. If an employer hires such student believing he has the proper training and finds out he is is useless to the company he has to fire him or her.... Then the race card will be used if it is a person of color .

What percentage of class hours in these fake courses make up the degree... 50 ... 75 %.. If an employer hires such student believing he has the proper training and finds out he is is useless to the company he has to fire him or her.... Then the race card will be used if it is a person of color .

I assume it was Basketball players, I hope that did not waste all that on their pitiful football program

The NCAA does not do the race card, sorry to disappoint you. Our Heisman running back has been sitting for two games. Coverups are about money. Look at Winston at FSU. Rape, Robbery and did the same thing UGA suspended Gurley for but did it 100 times as much. All swept under the rug

I'm assuming the ethnic break down of the students in these classes is not predominantly Caucasian or Asian. Do you think me assumption is off? Why?
