Hi everybody,

Just a quick question regarding these two forms, I recently landed in Phoenix AZ. Myself and my fiancee are planning to be married soon but we have heard from another couple that it is possible before we're married that I am able to fill out an I -765 form and submit it and begin to work before we are actually married?

I am eager to work and get things going and am just curious.

Thanks, Ciaran

You can file I-765 with fees but the EAD will take 2-3 months to arrive and only valid till your I-94 expiration date.

So at best you will get a couple of weeks in which you can actually work using this EAD. It is a waste of money.

Hence, it is advised to file I-765 & I-131 together (no fees) with AOS ($1070).

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

ok that make a lot of sense thank you. So the best way to do it is straight to marriage and then fill out the I-765 & I-131 together and submit them for the fee of 1070$?

That would be the most efficient you would think?

Thanks for the advice

You should start getting all the necessary paper works for AOS/I-765/I-131.

Read the guide here:

Once you get married and receive the marriage certificate, send out the AOS package ASAP.

EAD will take 2-3 months to arrive.

Meanwhile, you can look for jobs. If you receive job offer, you can request for EAD expedite.
