Washington (CNN) -- The U.S. Secret Service is planning to boost its presence and its surveillance measures around the White House on Monday after an Iraq war veteran, who is apparently suffering from PTSD, jumped over a White House fence.

Officers patrolling the area will be out in greater numbers and will be "looking for individuals who don't look like tourists," a federal law enforcement officer told CNN.

Two security incidents in two days have raised concerns about the safety at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

On Friday, Omar Gonzalez hopped the north fence and sprinted just past the north portico White House doors when he was stopped, Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary said.

800 rounds of ammo in the car. That's a lot of brass

The Secret Service might now have a clue how a CBP officer feels almost everyday ,except the Secret service will actually get to see their trespasser prosecuted and the CBP officer will not.

Seems that the latest jumper was a gun aficionado.

White House Fence Jumper Omar Gonzalez Had 800 Rounds of Ammo in Car, Prosecutors Say

Waiting for the resident gun aficionados to tell me that no self-respecting gun aficionado would ever be caught so severely undersupplied in the ammo department.

Those 800 rounds were just what he had in his car. What all the ammo for if he doesn't have any guns?

maybe he decided to invest in metals?

I know we all want to know what went wrong with the Secret Service, the other part of the story is the question why a Veteran was living in his car for the last two years

Gonzalez served in the military for 18 years and did three tours in Iraq, according to a public defender cited by the Washington Post. Gonzalez reportedly spent six years in Iraq with the Army Special Forces as a sniper. The Army released information on Gonzalez's service on Sunday. The Associated Press with the details:

Gonzalez enlisted in July 1997 and was assigned to the 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Hood, Texas. At the time, he listed his home as Puerto Rico.

He was discharged in September 2003 after completing his service obligation.

Gonzalez enlisted a second time, in July 2005, and served until his retirement in late 2012.

During this period, he was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state, and the 4th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ford Hood.

Gonzalez served in Iraq from October 2006 to January 2008, according to the Army.

He appears to have a clean record with no convictions or arrest warrants. And he tested negative for drugs on Saturday. “This is someone who has provided service to his country and shown commitment in his life,” Assistant Public Defender Margarita O’Donnell said.

After he was apprehended, Gonzalez told a Secret Service agent he feared “the atmosphere was collapsing and needed to get the information to the president of the United States so that he could get the word out to the people,” according to the affidavit.

“He’s a very good guy. He is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder,” his former stepson, Jerry S. Murphy, said. “I don’t believe he had any intention in hurting anybody. He has served his country for years.” Murphy said Gonzalez has been living out of his car for the past two years with his two dogs.

Palin: White House Infiltrator “Natural Mexican Fence-Jumper”

While speaking Saturday at a conservative women’s brunch in Anchorage, former Alaska Governor and 2008 Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin made a string of comments that many are calling racially insensitive regarding Omar Gonzalez, a Texas man who vaulted over the White House fence and ran across the North Portico lawn, making it inside the presidential residence before Secret Service agents apprehended him.

“You all heard about this `Gonzalez’ guy, right? At the White House? This is a pretty funny story,” Palin said during the warm-up of her speech. “So this Mexican jumped the fence at the White House and actually made it into the building, and the Secret Service were just standing around watching him. It’s times like these where I’m glad we lost in 2008. I wouldn’t feel safe with guys like this protecting me. I’m better off protecting myself.”

After briefly talking about Todd Palin’s collection of firearms, Palin went back to talking about the incident at the White House. “You have to ask yourself, though… are we surprised by this? This guy was a natural Mexican fence-jumper. I think that’s what they teach you in grade school over there in Mexico. How to pick lettuce, how to stand around outside a hardware store, and how to jump over fences. He was born to do it.”
