I think you had a lot more weapons and other related training than most gun aficionados can claim.

We get a decent amount, but we're also trained in the levels of deadly force and escalation. There are steps that need to be taken first before you can even pull your weapon, let alone shoot someone.

That's something that's missing with the general public.

In regards to gun training, it's more mission orientated. You're taught how to break it down, clean it, zero, and perform SPORTS if there's a malfunction. But if you're doing security or even war training, it's more extensive. We had to memorize and cite word for word the rules. If I remember correctly, there are 7 levels.

7 justifications of deadly force

1. self defense and defense of others

2. assets involving national security

3. assets not involving national security, but inherently dangerous

4. arrest or apprehension

5. serious offenses against others

6. preventing escape

7. protect public health or safety

The two of you gun aficionados can rest easy, it appears these Afghan soldiers were socialist wussies, they were caught trying to enter Canada.

The three Afghanistan National Army officers who disappeared this weekend during a training exercise on Cape Cod have been found trying to cross the border into Canada near Niagara Falls, sources said Monday.

A top Massachusetts law enforcement officials tells NBC News that the three were caught at the famed Rainbow Bridge. It was unclear what the process will be to return them to Joint Base Cape Cod or if they will be returned somewhere else.

See - you don't have any answer at all to people who have successfully defended themselves. Nor any cognizance of places like this where just about everyone is armed for very good reasons like bears trying to break down your front door. I shot one of them point blank in the front door trying to push his way in. The only black bear I have ever shot.

I woke up in the middle of an earthquake. Or so I thought. The routine is to run outside so the cabin roof doesn't collapse on you. But as I got to the front door, I could see one of the logs up high actually being displaced by something pushing on the other side. Working it's way over to the door, pushing. So I grabbed the closest gun, opened the front door as he got to it, and stuffed the barrel right in his chest. He was pushing on the log just above the door, towering over me.

After I shot him, he sat down and looked around like #######? Like he didn't even notice me. Trying to figure out what happened. So I shot him again. He leaped up sideways and made it about two more bounds before collapsing on the edge of the wood pile. Been over 20 years and I'll never forget the look on his face when I first shot him.

That makes you an Alaskan, not anything particularly heroic. I remember watching that bear. He hissed at me when I came outside. He was stealing dog food. I chased him off a bit, but he watched me. Poking his head up over the brush. So I went inside. That bear figured out he needed to push on the cabin and he could get inside where all the food was. He knew I was in there too. So I gave him his wish. He's inside now.
