I applied for aos (my wife is US citizen) and we had our interview 3 days ago at Detroit USCIS. Our lawyer was with us at the interview. Interview was very easy, IO checked our documents and while checking, she asked some marriage based question (how you met, how was the marriage etc.). Then she asked question from the forms that we filled (i-485, i-130, 325) and saw the album that we brought to the interview. She took all the copies of original documents and some pictures.

After that she said she will review the case once more and you will get the response in the mail or if they need anything, they will mail us. She took my expired i-94 and made copies of my EAD, my wife's license and my foreign license. She didn't take the EAD though and never said that I have to give it back.

After the interview, our lawyer said its the common procedure now and we will be approved by the night. But until now there's no status update online, its still in the interview phase. Anybody has any idea whats holding it or around when we can we approved? or we are in the months long wait cases?

(My wife didn't file the tax for 2013 but she took the extension for tax filing as we want to file our tax together and I am still waiting for SSN card.)

Thanks in advance.

How long is a piece of string? You will probably hear something within 30 - 60 days. If you haven't heard anything by then, an Infopass would be a good idea.

We received two letters from USCIS stating that I-485 and I-130 have been approved. The letters were sent the next day from the interview, means we were approved same night, but the online status still didn't change even after 5 days of approval.

Does anyone know approximately how long will it take GC to arrive (online status still in the interview thing)? Can I make infopass appointment and get my passport stamped? I have some travel plans to go outside US this week, I was thinking to go my advance parole but I think I can't use that now, right?

The online status may never change; it's notoriously unreliable.

If you've already received hard copies of the approval notices in the mail then that's all that matters. You can take the I-485 approval notice to an Infopass appointment and receive an I-551 passport stamp. They'll probably only give you six months or so on it, but it will be more than enough to tide you over until your real green card arrives in the mail.

I would strongly suggest not using AP to travel now that your green card has been approved. I've heard of people doing that (mostly people who happened to be abroad when their I-485 was approved, so they had to return on AP) but I think technically your AP has been invalidated now that your I-485 is approved. A passport stamp is certainly the preferred solution. It will probably take around 7 - 10 days for you to receive the plastic green card from the day it was approved.
