The men went to eat at Big Earl’s Restaurant in Pittsburg for breakfast Tuesday morning. They said they enjoyed their food, paid for their meals, but it’s what the waitress said on their way out that ruined the whole experience.

Collin Dewberry, who was leaving with his partner, said the waitress told them they do not serve a certain type of person at that restaurant. The word she used was derogatory and targets homosexuals.

...

They explained that the waitress then recited the following phrase: “Here at Big Earl’s we like for men to act like men and for ladies to act like ladies, so we want you to never return.”

They had eaten, paid, and had no idea they had done anything wrong.

...

Big Earl said it was their behavior, touching legs, that was against policy, not their sexual orientation.

“I didn’t go over there to inspect to see what he was rubbing. That’s just not appropriate in a family restaurant that has a sign on the front door that we just don’t do that here,” Earl Cheney, the restaurant owner, said.

I don't see the big deal. The owner said it was because of inappropriate behavior not their sexuality. If they were groping etc, he was well within his rights. Many times these stories, as we have seen recently, get twisted.

I mean the last thing I want two see when I am out eating is two chicks groping each other right ?

Seriously, no matter the orientation, people should conduct themselves appropriately in public. I don't see that they waitress ever attacked their homosexuality only their actions

Im sure the "We have the right to refuse service to anyone" and the "no shirt no shoes no service" sign also is very offensive to the op also.

We just don't do that here? Problem is you admit you don't even know what it is they were doing.

Way to go Big Earl.

You know I am pro gay rights. I just think there is more to it.

Now if they were being affectionate, I am sure the being gay made it much more noticeable. I do agree something that would be tolerated among a straight couple might catch a jaundiced eye from a gay couple

I got to call BS on this

"Collin and his partner Kelly Williams said they have lived in East Texas their whole lives and have never been called that word before"

You live out in East Texas and you act like they do then I am sure they have been called many names before

The article says they were touching legs. Now, this sounds to me like they sat too close to each other and one rested his hand on the other's leg, possibly giving it an affectionate pat or a comforting squeeze/rub. The fact that the article keeps repeating that the restaurant's 'policy,' as given by Big Early himself is that men should act like men and women should act like women?

Normally, I look at this stuff and go 'yeah, probably the complainers were acting out of line' but in this case, I really have to suspect that Big Earl's doesn't like it when gay people come in and act like a couple. Gay people sitting across from each other, not touching in the slightest, probably flies just fine. The second they act coupley, I'm gambling they get told off.

How many times has a heterosexual couple been kicked out for 'touching legs?' I see it every single time I go to a restaurant, at LEAST one heterosexual couple with the dude resting his hand on the lady's leg.

How dare them touch legs while having breakfast! Everyone knows you are only supposed to touch legs after 3:30pm; 2:45 on Sundays.

I suspect it is a mix of both

Touching and having a R.Kelly concert in the restaurant are two different things. Stop trolling me

It's not an R Kelly concert unless there's underage girls and P involved. :ranting:
