Hey guys i'm pretty confused right now heh

When we applied for our marriage license, we filled out the paperwork and was given an envelope with the following:

-instruction sheet

-receipt of the $30 we paid

-an actual blank certificate

-the marriage license itself (had the areas that the bride and groom sign, the officiator signs, and the witnesses sign etc)

we are married now and today the envelope was turned into the county clerks office by the officiator (sister in law) and she said they either said they could mail it to us or just hand it back to her, which they did. in the envelope she handed back to us was the following:

-2 of the marriage licenses, but this time they were printed on nicer paper and had a stamp and raised stamp/seal type thing saying county clerk and a signature.

-the marriage certificate thing, which we also signed, but nothing had been done to it by the office

so what is it we actually send with our AOS paperwork? is it the paper that say marriage license on it that has been stamped with the raised seal, or are they going to mail us something else? or were they supposed to keep the thing that actually looks like a certificate and does something to it?

if it makes a difference, the state is utah. on the county's website it doesn't really mention marriage certificate, it just says that a licensed copy of the marriage license is mailed to the bride and groom after the person who officiated it gives it back to them. Really confused right now, seeing as the AOS asks for a marriage certificate, not a license. hmm xD

send the one with the raised stamp and signatures. thats the correct one imo. The other fancy looking paper is just for keepsake. The paper you received after turning in the envelop is what you turn in.

hope it helps.

Send the one with the raised (dry or embossed) seal in special paper. In most counties (if not all), you can request for another "certified true copy of the marriage certificate" with a fee. Ours is additional $10 for an extra certified copy.
