Why not have certain forums the exception to the "family-friendly" policy ? Have a disclaimer that says those particular forums may contain content that is not family-friendly (or something to that effect).

In this manner, you would strike a balance with most of VJ being family-friendly, while still leaving a place for people to feel free to be themselves.

If the issue is that VJ is being categorised as an adult site, then that's a different issue to being family friendly.

The simple solution would be to get rid of the off topic forums.

If the issue is the ads, then I don't think these ads populate because of PG images on this site that anyone would encounter in daily life in the US. Removing the image does little to no good.

Rather, these ads populate because of what people say on this site. The regional forums are full of people who swap their stories about meeting on filipinaheart, anastasiadate, elenasmodels. One member repeatedly brags that he found his wife in a catalog for $99. Another member, when someone falls for a romance scam, shows up and tells the brokenhearted person that he should try a Ukrainian woman next time, and gives links to dating sites. There are threads dedicated to the virtues of a particular nationality of woman over the lack of virtues of another, that mods participate in.

These threads have been reported, argued about, etc, and they are kept because of something about free speech, even though that speech is degrading and offensive to many people. That speech leads to these ads. I know this because whenever I go in the RUB forum, I get an ad for Russian brides. I often try to figure out what caused a particular ad to come up, and I can usually trace it to browsing some strange thread in the regionals.

So, I don't think these ads populate because of CEHST or OT. They populate because of the type of conversation that happens in the regionals.

I have long thought the regionals were a bad idea, as they foster a coterie mentality and keep people divided. They are overrun by a small group that dominate the type of conversation they want to have. I personally think many of their discussions are in very poor taste. Yet, they continue.

If you don't want to delete the regionals, then there has got to be a way to hide the lower forums from google and only populate ads from the upper forums. But even there, people will discuss matchmaking websites, there are IMBRA regulations, and a forum for such. But at least it would be more spread out.

Whatever you do, deleting images of a fully clothed woman's body is not the answer to your problem.

Until you get a handle on why these ads promoting human trafficking are on VJ, I would suggest you ask the membership to use Ad Block. This will protect you from liability.

It would be nice to have some transparency about why the crackdown is occurring. The mods are doing their jobs, but why the sudden banning of anything with the slightest tinge of sex? I'm still boggled by the idea that a woman in sweatpants is suggestive, or a cartoon character removing her skirt, when there are many, many photos in the gallery of actual VJ members in swimwear (and less) that are somehow just dandy. If you're going to be consistent, be open and follow through to the most absurd ends.

I mean, babies are proof sex happened. Ban baby talk. Women talk about their periods on here, from their cycles to how they can't go to a medical because they're menstruating. Men crack jokes about the size of their members. Remove it all. No low cut tops in pictures. Men must wear shirts in pictures posted.

I'm willing to comply but we need openness. I've been good about complying with the TOS because the TOS -- at least to me -- was pretty clear. The new policy is creating too many opportunities for people to fall afoul of the TOS without even knowing they're doing so. I'm sure the mods and members alike would appreciate clarification.

I just wanted everyone to know that we are not trying to go wildly overboard. We are simply trying to strike the right balance to keep VJ family safe while still being a fun and helpful site to visit. I'd just ask that you give us a short bit of time to settle in as well. I don't ask this often, but as a personal favor to me can you give us a little time to get it right ?

Removing an avatar that I have used for over a year with absolutely no issues or complaints (and really only used it in the OT forums where most people don't even go) is going overboard. There was nothing obscene about it. And yet there are signatures with far more offensive content that remain.

Have you looked through the Gallery lately? Full of young girls in barely-there swimsuits. All perfectly acceptable, though.

As a personal favor to your users, many of whom have been here for years, you should attempt to communicate with them properly. Instead, you've gone about this in the worst possible way - one that simply creates more confusion than necessary.

Folks, I kindly asked that no one repost images like this. They have all been removed. Even if the images were of ads served you are violating the TOS rules by posting them in the forum. It would be enough to tell me here that you saw them. Really. I would believe you.
