Hi All,

I'm a Indonesian citizen and my wife is a UCS. Currently she lives with me in Indonesia on a tourist visa since November 2013. The old DCF in Jakarta threads are pretty old and coming from 2011. I'm pretty sure there are new rules and regulations to file for a DCF now and was wondering if anybody has recently done this in the Jakarta embassy in the past 1-2 years? Is the process still the same?

My wife emailed the embassy (jakiv@state.gov) and asked them questions that were based on things I gathered from this Forum. Here's the email:

Hi Jakarta US Embassy,

I am a US Citizen who wishes to bring my husband to the US as a Permanent Resident with an Immigrant Visa CR-1. I understand that there’s an I-130 Direct Counselor Filing option at the Embassy and my questions are:

1. What are necessary documents needed to apply? (both myself and my husband)

2. Can a spousal KITAS (non work sponsored KITAS) be sufficient to apply for the I-130 DCF?

a. Currently I’m on a tourist Visa in process of converting my status to a spousal KITAS. Does the 6-month permanent residency in Indonesia applies from the issuance of my KITAS or the 1st day I entered Indonesia with my tourist Visa?

3. Can my husband immediately work in the US once his CR-1 have been issued and enter the US?

Also, please note that our marriage is less than 2 years and therefore we would have to apply for the CR-1.

Thanks in advanced for your time and attention.

Regards,

And here's the reply from them:

Dear Ms. ,

Thank you for your email.

For information regarding I-130, please visit

Now with that said, the Embassy didn't directly answer anything but links about the I-130. Maybe any of you can answer the main concerns that we have:

1. Can a spousal KITAS (non work sponsored KITAS) be sufficient to apply for the I-130 DCF?

a. Currently she's on a tourist Visa in process of converting her status to a spousal KITAS. Does the 6-month permanent residency in Indonesia applies from the issuance of her KITAS or the 1st day she entered Indonesia with her tourist Visa?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Oh, right before i sent this.. i did some research. Is it true that DCF now isn't available in all countries since all I-130 petition must go through the USCIS Lockbox or approved Field offices from this list: http://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/international-immigration-offices

Since Indonesia isn't listed, does that mean DCF is absolutely a no go here?
