all,

We got married on oct 2010, got my green card on march 2011. We've been married for over 3 years. Can I apply for naturalization if I have been married for over 3 years, yet only a resident for less than 3 years?

Thanks in advance for yer response visajourney active members!

Find the 'resident since' date on your green card. Use that date, not the date you were married

good luck

On the date you first send in your N-400, you have to be married for at least three years, condition number one. Condition number 2 is that you have to be a green card holder for exactly three years minus 90 days. To be on the safe side, make that 88 days, USCIS is unclear how they start counting back.

Also be prepared to send in a lot of evidence to prove your marriage is valid, wonder at times if its worth the effort, so much easier to apply five years minus 88 days where none of this evidence is required.
