Hey VJ members I am a little confused.. My case was transferred on Dec 27, 2013 from NBC to another service center. Now I received another email saying that its being transferred to my local office. Has any one gone through this experience? How does the process work in a local office? Why is it being transferred to my local office? Any response will help thank you in advanced.

It's not being transferred to your local office. You can expect that you will get 2 more emails. If you can't wait to find out where your case has been transferred to, call the 800 #, and ask for a tier 2 officer because you're confused as to where your petition is going. They will tell you where it was transferred to.

There is a huge backlog of applications at the NBC. So, they're transferring some cases out to centers that are supposedly faster in order to clear some of that backlog up. Don't worry, many others-including my husband's application- were transferred as well. We are just as frustrated with how little we know about what is going on at USCIS.

I know saying "don't worry" won't relieve the anxiety but this isn't a complicated matter. Cases can be transferred due to overload of application in a service center. Regardless the impact on processing time is insignificant and in some cases may do good for you. There are opposite cases as well where it gets bit delayed. Instead of the emails wait for the hard copy and then start investigating if you aren't happy. You can always call the 1-800 number and if you are lucky may talk to someone who can provide some clarity

Good luck and best wishes.
