extremely confused! - nvc

hey guys!

so, this is what happened:

a few days ago I emailed NVC asking about if they had received our petition yet, but after my friend here on VJ, Mari, told me her and her fiancé had now received their case number, and we have similar timeline, i got excited and decided to contact the NVC by phone :P

so yesterday we called the NVC, they gave us a case number and the lady on the phone told us they received it the day before.

today, i received an email response, which gave me the case number as well as this bit here which i am a bit confused by..

"You must resubmit your inquiry or request, and all future correspondence to the U.S Embassy or Consulate in LONDON because this petition is no longer located at the NVC"

i went to check the case status on the website, and sure enough, it states it's in transit, with this message:

Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.

-so...is this actually serious..? have i been given an interview date? i haven't received a letter in the mail, i haven't sent any packets obviously xD i'm extremely confused with this.

-also so does this mean I should start arranging a medical now? it's so close to christmas too so...can i wait til after? i already have my police certificate

-will they mail me first or do i initiate contact with them myself (my consulate is london. i very much apologise if i should have posted this in the united kingdom forum but I thought it might apply to every consulate/this may have happened to somebody else?)

-what's the next step for us? i'm not feeling too great right now (ill! :< ) so my understanding of things isn't as good as it usually is xD !

this process is so confusing and there are not enough words to describe how thankful i am that this website exists<3 you're all amazing thank you and best wishes

If your case has gone to London, then London will send out a letter to the beneficiary with further instructions. It'll have your important LND number on it and a link to the instructions on their website:

http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

You won't have an interview date yet, as London only sets this after they've got your medical results and DS forms.

You'll need you LND number to be able to book the medical, anyway. So, you may as well wait for your letter (since you don't want to do it before Xmas anyway, sounds like). If you don't get the letter in the next 4-6 weeks or so, you can call the Department of State line and get your LND number for yourself.

You don't have to have you medical until you are ready. You can call Knightsbridge clinic and pick a date in January if that suits you better. The link to London instructions lost at sea gave you has separate information on the medical if you will look in the list of topics in the left column of that page. When you get to the medical page, there is a PDF document to download in the right column, with yet more information.

Thanks lost at sea, darnell, and nich-nick for your help ^^

i think i'll give em a call and make an appointment for january sometime :)

so when the medical is over and the results are ready, do they give them to me/tell me results, or do they get sent to the consulate? :P if i did happen to get it done before i get my letter, would that cause any issues (it getting lost in the system or something since i did it too soon, or something like that? haha)

thanks again, i appreciate all of your help!!

The medical results get couriered straight from the Doctor's office to the embassy after about 4 working days (assuming there were no issues) so you don't get to see what's in them or anything. Generally speaking, if you hear nothing from the Doctor - that's good news! They tend to call if there's been a problem only (like, something wrong in the xray or blood test).

If you did get the medical done too soon, then yeah, London could misplace the results but since you know your number and you're booking an appointment for January - it'll probably all be fine. Did you check your case on CEAC? https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx? Put your LND number into that, and see what it says. smile.png

Come on now. You gotta read some of this stuff for yourself or you may miss important stuff. Repeating What I said above--

"The link to London instructions lost at sea gave you has separate information on the medical if you will look in the list of topics in the left column of that page. When you get to the medical page, there is a PDF document to download in the right column, with yet more information."

Instructions http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

Look at topics in left column

Click "Medical examination" > price is on that embassy web page. Not £230.

Click the PDF on the embassy medical page and you will find

more info on medical

map

Phone number

Immunization list

Price list if you get shots there

and the questionnaire you must fill out and take with you

Tip-- get your shots done before you go to the medical. Saves money and hassle for AOS.

ohh I see it now xD

i've been using the internet on my phone lately as i've been unable to use my usual computer, so on the mobile version of that website, i don't think it ever loaded correctly or something because i didn't see the column with the price and link to the PDF, like i was able to see when i managed to get on a computer and check the page.

i apologise for seeming like I was being lazy and expecting you guys to find all the answers for me. i do truly appreciate all of your help! :)

i'll make sure to browse the websites I need for visa stuff on my computer in future, so that I don't miss out on any important information. :P

Thank you ^^

I understand. I use an iPad and it defaults to the mobile version. I know the embassy website like the back of my hand and I can't find important stuff on the mobile version and I know what I'm looking for. I have to scroll all the way to the bottom and click use full site, then go back and click the bookmark I have for that instruction page. You really need to find something other than your phone because London scatters their info all over the place and you will miss the links to the two forms in the right column of the instruction page http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

And don't mind me, the teacher/mom in me wants everybody to learn for themselves rather than believe what a stranger says in a forum. So I try to point you to the real source.

Also a good source for you now is the UK forum because it's all about London and different in many ways from other consulates. Start browsing or asking questions there. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/
