He said it was required so in the outside chance that they didnt get married, that she had airfair back home. Is this true? My girl is almost at the embassy interview point and I want to know what am I likely to need. She is in the Philippines and just took her medical.

The embassy dont care about your travel plans to the U.S. its either you got approve or not..better buy one way ticket..in my experience PAL is the best price to get and its the only nonstop flight..

There is no such requirement as to what type of ticket you must purchase. Get the one you want, or whichever is cheaper.

Adding the oft-added reminder: If you buy a round-trip, be sure to cancel the return portion with the airline! More than one VJ member has gotten into very deep trouble when the airline gave the unused return-seat to a standby passenger and failed to correct the passenger manifest, thus making it appear that the beneficiary left the U.S. before AOS when the beneficiary actually did not.

Write down the cancellation number (if any), and definitely the airline agent's name & location, and the time & date when you canceled the return, and store the information among the beneficiary's immigration papers. You'll be relieved to lay hands on this if you ever need it.

The airline always corrects the manifest. If a passenger is not on the flight, then their name will not be on the flight manifest. That a reservation is shown on the airline's system, under the VJ's member's name, is different thing.

Working for an airline for the past 10 years, it is unthinkable, against the law and airline regulations to not have a correct flight manifest.

Though as TBone mentioned it is best to contact the airline before the date of departure of the return flight and cancel it. If you have not done that, contact the airline's customer service and request a statement from them, that you did not travel on said date and time.

Fantastic information. I was wondering about why I'd have to do that. I'd never heard of such a thing either. One way ticket it is. My co-worker wasnt clear at the time telling me who required him to get a RT ticket. I didnt have time to press him on the point.
