Are the interview dates listed on the Embassy's website for certain?

My case was forwarded to the Embassy a couple weeks ago and today they posted our interview date.

Will this be the same date that will be mailed to my fiance after they receive our documents?

Thanks for your help!

The dates are pretty firm - I haven't heard of them changing arbitrarily. I found out ours from the NVC before the case was sent to Moscow. I think that the State Dept. sets these dates, not the embassy.

Please update your time lines. I too am in the Russian Embassy and it would be nice to follow your progression.

I think the dates are final, unless you request a change, which is not a good idea. Yoyr fiancee will receive the packet with an official invitation to the embassy interview with the same date.

Good luck,

Mike.

Interesting... I wish I would have known to get our interview date from the NVC.

Interesting... I wish I would have known to get our interview date from the NVC.

I had no idea that it was possible. I called the NVC ( DC area code), was on hold about 30 seconds. They were friendly, polite, and voluntarily told me everything about the case and the interview. I wish I had the number handy to share ( then again, if the call volume increased, I doubt they would be as helpful).

Hey guys,

I can shed light on your uncertainty. NVC does not schedule the interviews at Moscow. The consulate does it themselves. I asked them about this.

It works like this...

1. Moscow receives papers...

2. Spends about 1-2 weeks pre-preparing (officially receiving) the case

3. Schedules the interview date

Think about it... if NVC scheduled the interviews, it would be more nicely dated, rather than sporadic. For example, your case finishes at the NVC on December 1st, and mine on December 8th. However, I get an earlier interview date than you... how does that work? It's because Moscow schedules the interview date after they finishing "pre-processing" your case.

I'm guessing that NVC simply knows the interview date after Moscow schedules it. Why? Because they have access to the same information via the embassy visa database system.

Makes sense to me. I honestly have no idea how the state department works. A large amount of their work is rather secretive -- I wouldn't expect to find out exactly their inner workings.

Last I dealt with them the numbers were...

NVC (603) 334-0700 prompts 1, 2

DOS (202) 663-1225 prompts 1, 0, 0 <-- for this one you'll need your MOS#

I got the date by.....

BEING PATIENT!!!!!

I checked the website every couple of days, then one day, there was our case number!!! I didn't call NVC, I didn't call the embassy, our service center, the President.... I just simply waited.

I'm a big procrastinator though, and we did wait over 5 years before even doing the papers so I will acknowledge that I do have a little more patience than most in this process. If you're in a hurry though, it seems the best thing to do is e-mail the embassy in Moscow. It's free and you get a pretty quick reply.

It is possible to change dates.... at least push them back. We moved Elena's interview back about two months. They had no problem with that. As far as moving it forward.... good luck!

MedicalMoose,

Looking at your timeline raised a question for me. If you don't mind me asking. Her interview was the 30th of November and she was approved but you are still waiting for your visa 3 weeks later. I hope your long wait is over and congratulations.

My question is that. That seems like a really long wait for the visa to be issued after the interview. Were there things that complicated it or have they changed the way they process things? Thanks.
