wow this whole immigration thing in on my last nerve. I keep seeing people who applied after me already approved and getting their interview assigned. and I'm nearly 14 months of waiting and still nothing????????????????? yes, I have contacted my senator and congressman since march and they only thing that happened was my case got transferred to my local city and made an info pass appointment and they said expect another 3-6 months before they get to me.

I'm seeing a lawyer on Monday, it will be the first time I see one regarding this case. wondering if that's just a waist of money or can they possibly get through...

No a lawyer can't do anything. Save your money. Just like your congressman and senator. It's in the system you have to just wait. I do know that your local office Chicago is hosed and nothing not even the president can do about that.

Because of the shutdown i would have suggested contacting the ombudsmen office but have heard they may be closed. But you should try them. I have seen them get some results

**Moderator hat off**

I'm seeing a lawyer on Monday, it will be the first time I see one regarding this case. wondering if that's just a waist of money or can they possibly get through...

When you see the lawyer, ask about a Writ of Mandamus. If such a writ against USCIS is successful, they would be compelled to make a decision on the case.

Since you are way out of the average timeline, they obviously screwed up somewhere. You should file an expedite request. This is one of the reasons you are allowed!

an expedite request? really, based on what? Just because this is taking forever?

I did try to expedite way back in January and was denied (medical due to pregnancy).

on Tuesday I called uscis to complain again and I did yet another service request for outside normal processing times and spoke to a tier 2 officer. well on Thursday I get a letter saying:

"Your petition is still pending consideration. We regret that we are not able to give you a timeframe for when we will complete the review of your petition."

it's the quickest I ever got something from uscis, so they can't give me a timeframe even though it's been 14 months??????????? don't you think you've had enough time giving it consideration???????????? there must be the dumbest people working at the Chicago uscis field office.

Anyone else waited 14 months to get a NOA2?

I personally don't think a lawyer can do much. Sadly I hear that many are out of touch with what's going on and go by the old states timelines. Might be better to spend your money going to visit. Unless you have a problem on your petition..i wouldn't.

What did your lawyer say ? I can feel your pain , 14 months is just so unfair when some people get approved in days , or 1-2 months.. plain unfair

I know this is a privilege, but there has to be some compassion, 14 months meaning at-least 2 years to be with loved one is sad

Lawyers. ughhhhh. I won't know until next week if they will take my case...But they did say expect to keep waiting because Chicago USCIS is going SO much slower. Hard to believe there is really nothing else I can do, just wait my turn :(

I would do another info pass downtown but getting there is really hard with a baby (I have no one to watch her)...and the sad part, no one cares. My husband is not in a safe area and it's extremely unstable. I have told this to uscis so many times and they just don't care. There should be more urgency for those in really bad places.
