My second question of the day!

I have a joint sponsor because my US wife has been living in England with me for the last few years. However, it's my understanding that she still has to be my sponsor (as she's my petitioner) and so therefore fill out an affidavit of support form.

My question is this: what does my wife put down for her income and emplyment (PART 6 of the 1-864 form)? She has a job and income in the UK but I'm assuming her status in the US is technically unemployed. So does she just tick the 'unemployed' box?

Cheers guys! Appreciate your wisdom!

My husband was in a similar circumstance in that he was our main sponsor but had not been employed in the US, having left there in his teens. For the part of the form you are referring to, he stated that he was employed in the UK and providing his UK salary. We did, however, have a co-sponsor in addition to this since even at the interview they could not decide whether they would use our assets from the UK and my husband's US job contract alone or take into account the co-sponsor's I864 - and actually I don't know what they determined to do but the kids and I were approved anyway. So I would recommend that your wife provides the details of her UK job on her I864 but that you submit her form along with that of your co-sponsor so that they can take both into consideration.

Best wishes

Laura
