On Monday August 11th I went to my visa interview. The first officer I spoke to said that I needed to send in proof that my father-in-law is an American citizen as he is my affidavit of support. He told me to send in a copy of his passport or birth certificate and then my visa would be approved.
However, at the second part of my interview, the second officer said "I see you're missing a few things, but don't worry about it, I can get you around it. So your visa is approved and it'll be with you within 10 days."
10 days later I still hadn't received my visa. I figured he meant 10 WORKING days so I didn't worry too much. It is now the 28th and I STILL haven't received my visa, but I fly out on September 5th.
I've tried everything to contact the embassy, but keep being told there is no one to speak to/there isn't a number to call them directly. The last phone number I was given turned out to be the postal/courier department!
Does anyone know of any contact numbers? Or did anyone else have this same problem?

Thanks,
Lizzy

If you were missing documentation, they were likely waiting for it, but I can see why that would be confusing given the second conversation you had with the interviewer. The "I can get you around it" is a bit... well... WHAT? Can you or not? I'd have pressed a bit on that point.

If you were missing documents, they may well be expecting them. There's a thread here with contact information: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/444950-courier-contacts-changes-confusion/

If they are waiting for you, you're not going to get a passport back by the 5th I'm guessing. :( I guess this is why folks are discouraged from booking flights until passport is back in your hand.

Thank you for your response. I checked my visa status and this was what I got:

That's usually good news! It means they put the visa in your passport, usually. I think you should try some of the contacts in the link above and see if you can find out what's going on. Did you pay a courier fee?

I don't think you had documents missing at all. The first window is a clerk who collects documents. If you were on a spouse visa, the I -864 requires proof of the joint sponsor's citizenship. For a K1 and I-134 in London, there is no such requirement. The officer has full authority to decide if your affidavit of support is fine. There are no rules written into the law. No proof of citizenship of a sponsor is mandated. The clerk was mistaken in asking for that.

Issued does mean your visa is printed. The new courier system is not working smoothly right now and several people are experiencing problems figuring out how to get the visa and passport.

So I'll give you all an update on what has happened.
DX Delivery called me on Thursday and left me a voicemail saying that I needed to call them back regarding payment of delivery. I called them back on Friday and was told I'd get a call back later on.
Around 12:30 I got a call from a young woman working for DX Delivery who asked for my card number and charged me £8.55 for the delivery of my visa to my house:
http://gyazo.com/e2e8dcb8df70cd0bb051a50b381573c1

She tells me the Visa will be at my house on Monday (today) and that I'd need my ID handy as the delivery person will need to see it.

I decided to call DX Delivery today anyway to double check that it is going to be with me today. When I called, I spoke to the same woman I spoke to on Friday morning (the woman who said someone would give me a call back) and she told me there was no record of anything under my name or my address with them.
My fiance spoke to someone else from DX Delivery who said he would get someone from the Embassy to call us back, as they have DX people working IN the embassy too. We then realised it was Labor Day and that the embassy is closed today, so my fiance called back. He asked the woman he was speaking to if he could be put through to a manager. The woman refused, saying there was no point because there was nothing of mine there. He insisted, as I had paid for something to be delivered to me that was apparently not there. She finally put him through to a manager who was VERY unhappy and riled up. Once the situation was explained to her she realised that there had been a mix up on their end, and that the DX people at the embassy had failed to get my visa out of the lock box upon my payment and subsequently had not forwarded my visa to the DX Delivery people to then deliver it to me. She told him that she would call us back tomorrow after contacting the embassy, and that she would hopefully have the visa sent to me by Wednesday. Our flight is on Thursday.
Things could not possibly get much worse..

oh god, really pray it gets worked out fast for you to make your flight. A lot of us sill waiting for visa's my interview was on the 5th august and my wedding is on september 14th and we are still waiting for ours to arrive too, we haven't booked flights though. Still panicking about making the wedding though :( 12 days and they are closed today! So frustrating :(
I called DX this morning as I had had a missed call from an unknown number but it wasn't them, the lady on the phone was very helpful though.... infact I called twice because the first number i called (ending in 0000) the woman on the end of the line was VERY uninterested and practically yawning told me nothing really at all, so i trawled through another thread on here as I had remembered seeing another number for DX ending in 6666. When I called that number they were really helpful, mine is still not with them but she has put on my case its urgent so here's hoping!!

Wow. I wish we hadn't booked our plane tickets either, but I have terrible panic attacks so my fiance flew over to come to the interview with me and to accompany me on the plane, otherwise I'd be too scared to get on, so we HAD to book the tickets for us to travel back so that he wouldn't have any issues with border control or with overstaying his 3 months visiting allowance.

I called my dad to let him know what was going on, and in that time someone from DX called me and left a voicemail message asking me to call him back. When I did he said he had looked into it and that it was merely a case of someone on their end, at the embassy, being lazy and not getting my visa out of the lock box BEFORE Labor Day, so because there is no one at the embassy today it was still stuck in the building, but he promised it would be with me before 1pm on Wednesday. I even told him I would meet it half way and pick it up from a post office somewhere, but he told me it wasn't a problem, not to worry about it, and that it would definitely be with me on Wednesday so that I could catch my flight on Thursday. Not sure whether I should trust them now though, after all of this has happened.

Fingers crossed!
