I often visit the US to visit my boyfriend, I have been going back and forth for about 5 years now (Sometimes twice a year, sometimes once.) I often say I am visiting friends or friends and family or "friends of the family." Instead of out right saying I am visiting my boyfriend, do they record what answers you give to them as to why you are entering the country? If so, will this hurt my chances of applying for a K-1 Visa as my boyfriend is now my fiancee and we are ready to make the next step in our relationship? I know I should answer truthfully, the one time I did say I was staying with my boyfriend and his parents the only reason the guard let me pass was because I was with my two friends who were also coming to visit, so it really scared me and from that point on I always said I was visiting "friends and family" ( I should note at this point I was 17 or 18, so I feel very lucky he let me pass in the first place.)

I just came back from the US on Sunday night and when asked who I was with told him friends, he asked me a lot of questions, being nervous now (It was a Canadian Border Agent too!) I probably talked more than I should have, spoke of my trip to Europe with said friends and was given clearance, is it possible my passport was flagged?

I am a horrible liar and feel so guilty, I plan on telling nothing but the truth and not just half-truths (I have a lot of friends there.) for future visits, but I am really scared of being detained, or worse finding out that I ruined my chances of moving to the US to be with my fiancee because of my stupidity.

Thanks for any guidance you guys can share!! I have been in my LDR for 6 and a half years and if I messed it up I don't know what I would do... :(

Thank goodness, are you positively sure? I am so worried about this.

Assuming you only intend to declare truthful things on your I-129f and K1 application, your previous entrances and exits from the USA shouldn't matter. It's only an issue if you've ever overstayed or you've misused a visa in the past (you haven't). They don't take down your answers when they're just chatting to you and looking at your passport - they're just looking to see if you seem honest.

Thank you so much! I feel so relieved to hear that.

This actually isn't true. They can take down answers, and previous entrances can matter. There have been cases on here where people lied about having a bf in the US to get a US visa, and then when they tried to claim they had a relationship, it was believed to be a scam because when asked before the person was "just a friend." It's a bit different for Canadians because they don't apply for visas to visit, but the same principles apply.

You should be honest about having a bf in the US. It's not a crime.

I wouldn't worry about it, friends become more then just friends often in a relationship. I doubt if you were flagged. You do need to overcome your nervousness though, when people are nervous that becomes a red flag. Just be truthful always; and you will be fine. I've crossed hundreds of times and never a problem, I am friendly, forthright and answer their questions in a strong affirmative voice. Eye contact is also good. No sunglasses. Lol!

My BIL is a customs officer of 25 years and he says they know when people are lying...

Good luck!!
