Packet 3 - Montreal Question!

Ok, so I am very confused and after calling DC for some help and clarification I'm still not confident I'm doing the right thing.

The DS-156K says to submit the following documentation in order to apply for e fiancé visa: birth certificate, evidence of engagement, evidence if financial support, police certificates...etc.

However, the checklist for the interview says we need those same documents for the interview in their original form and a copy.

So, if I submit the originals with Packet 3 how will we have them for the interview? Do we actually need to pay and wit for another birth certificate and police certificate???

Help please...so confused and don't want to slow this process down!

*** moving to Canada forum as question is Canada specific***

At the top of the Canada forum is a very specific K1 for Montreal thread. I suggest reading it from the beginning. smile.png I hope it helps you.

I thought you just needed to show that you had them for Packet 3 by checking the checklist, and that you actually did not need to produce them until your interview?

Thanks for the feedback...I hope completing the checklist and taking the originals to the interview is good enough! Ours is sent without them via courier today. I guess we'll hear if we needed to include them...and we can send them At that time. Why is this process so confusing? Even our lawyer didn't know what to tell us! I was hoping someone else who had recently done it could give us insight! Here's hoping....!

They might be off today since it's the St-Jean.
Not sure if they follow those holidays or not though, since well, it's an american embassy.

How did it go for you ? What did you do at the end ? Did you send all the docs that the 156K was asking??

Your answer would be greatly appreciated it :-)

Our packet 3 should have arrived in Montreal on Frida. So I haven't heard anything yet. I can update this when I do.

By the way my country says Peru but i am filing from Canada since i live here now ..thought to clarify...and yes my interview will be in Montreal
